About Me
I have been an Ofsted Registered Childminder for 25 years. I hold my 3rd 'Outstanding' Ofsted Grade latest inspection being January 2020.
I live in a quiet area of Kimberworth, Rotherham with my husband, I have 2 grown up daughters 29yrs, 23yrs and 2 younger sons 15yrs & 12yrs.
The whole of my downstairs is used for Childminding purposes, we have a dedicated well stocked playroom & large open plan kitchen, conservatory, dining room and front room. I operate a free flow provision that is child led with a Hygge Accredited Approach in the Early Years to living and learning.
I am not a nursery operating from a home setting, yet deliver a wide and varied learning experience for the children in my care, taking into account their age and stage of development as well as their interests.
I pride myself on having a home from home provision, nurturing them whilst providing invitations and provocations to play.
At Karen's Childcare & Early Years Education part of the ethos of my setting is to re-connect with nature, enjoy the serendipity, rhythm of life and our day.
We have a large multi area / level garden with an array of play / learning opportunities. Loose parts is big in our provision leading to open ended play. We also have a large mud kitchen area, artificial grass, bespoke made large garden structure with a living roof, which the children have aptly named 'The Lookout' which oversees the garden along with numerous outdoor resources and changing activities.
As a provision we go out everyday not just in the garden but also in the community and further afield to such places as woodlands, English Heritage and National Trust sites and attractions.
We access all outings and school runs by way of my 9 seater minibus.
My Experience
2 years full time N.N.E.B. trained childcare practitioner.
Live in and out Nanny in London and the home counties, as well as a live in/out maternity nurse taking 24hr care of newborn babies up to 3-6 months at a time.
Registered childminder since 1998/ 24 yrs cared for & educated over 100 children in this time.
Experience of children with additional needs by way of Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, Asperger's, Dyspraxia, Cerebral Palsy, limited vision and hearing, global delay development, Down's Syndrome, Sensory difficulties to name a few.
I have also cared for Looked After Children from Social Services.
I am on the Accredited SEND Network for Rotherham.

My Availability
I currently have limited Childcare availability for all day care, before and after school availability for St Bedes Primary only.
Adhoc school holiday care.

Karen is an amazing childminder, I couldn't ask for a better person to have my little boy. He has learnt so much, I have noticed a big change in his communication and development since being in her care. She has always been so supportive and is always there to give advice. I highly recommend Karen!!

My boys have been with Karen since they were 8 months old and I couldn’t ask for a better childminder for them. Karen goes above and beyond on a daily basis and loves them like her own. They are both thriving and as well as supporting the boys, Karen has also given me so much support and guidance when I have needed it. Would 100% recommended Karen to anybody looking for a childminder. I feel at ease knowing they are in such amazing care xx
