My Summary
About Me
I am a 31 year old South Londoner with 10 years of experience working as a private nanny and as an LSA for children with special educational needs in a mainstream primary school.
As a new mother to a daughter born August 2023 I am looking for a family that would be happy for me to bring her to work.
She is a very happy little bean and would make a great playmate for a similar aged baby.
I am extremely patient and try to creative a friendly, fun and inspiring environment, focused on the children's mental, emotional and physical wellbeing.
In my spare time I practice yoga and make silver and gold jewellery which I sell locally.
As a creative person I encourage the children I work with to engage in art and craft projects at home, be it creating a piece of homework they can be really proud of, a really beautiful mothers or fathers day card, or something from their imagination!
I love to create age appropriate sensory play, with lots of singing and signing.
I have an up to date DBS, have been trained in paediatric first aid, have completed a safeguarding short course and am Ofsted registered, so I can be paid using child care vouchers. I also have access to a car and a full UK drivers licence.
My Experience
I have experience working with premature twins just a few days old all the way to 14 years old, as well as children with a range of learning needs. I am also a mother myself.
I am looking for a part time role ideally 1-2 full days with a young local family.
My last role sadly came to an end as the family relocated to Greece. I helped them settle into their new home as a live in nanny for 3 months in Athens (whilst pregnant!)
I was with the family for 2 years prior to the move, first full time, as a nanny share to the eldest boy and his friend but after both families grew I took a part time with role looking after the 2.5 year old and his 6 month old baby sister. A very busy and active family we went on many trips and adventures. I accompanied the family on holidays and did many overnight stays so the parents could have weekend away.
I always work hard to make a genuine bond with the parents and children in my care to make them feel loved, safe and supported and am very lucky to still have close friendships with the families I’ve worked for.
From 2018 until the first lock down in April 2020 I looked after 3 boys who, when I started the role, they were 6 months, 3 years and 7 years old. This role included getting everyone fed, washed, dressed and ready for the day. Then we would all walk the biggest to school and nursery, after which I'd take the littlest on adventures. We loved playing in the park and woods, going to playgroups and on play dates or hanging out at home making an arty mess or playing dinosaurs.
I prepared healthy lunches and read lots of stories for chilling / nap time.
We would pick up the big boys from school and head home for games, a healthy dinner, homework, and chill out time (T.V, reading or board games, or if they were still full of beans and I wanted to knacker them out we would have a disco!).
During holidays I took all the children on educational outings, such as the science museum, as well as organising other fun activities such as cooking, arts, crafts and play dates.
I enjoy cooking and am happy to prepare meals for the whole family. I make nutritious and tasty baby food and can adapt meals to be suitable for the whole family. I always make sure that the house is clean and tidy before I leave.
I have experience with twins, looking after 8 month olds as well as three day old twin boys, the brothers of one of the boys in the nanny share.
Earlier in my career I was wrap around care for a family of 5. Under my care were two boys aged 7 and 11, and a girl aged 13. Friends of my employers needed child care, so being confident of my ability, I was asked to take on two girls aged 7 and 10 on Mondays and an 8 y/o girl and an 11 y/o boy on Wednesdays an in addition to my usual responsibilities.
I also worked at a primary school as a TA/LSA. I was a ‘one to one’ Learning support assistant, primarily working with a girl in year 4 with Down syndrome and a boy in year 5 with autism.
The learning abilities of these students are such that they cannot access the lessons and topics with the rest of the class. I therefore plan and create all my lessons independently, making resources and creating games and activities that they will be able to access and which engage and motivate the students. I teach all lessons from maths to cooking, all are personalised to motivate the children, be it making all the resources pink or relating all the work to Thomas the Tank engine.
Safety is a priority and as the children I work with have little sense of danger I must be constantly vigilant.
