About Me

Hi, my name is Duniya Tegow and I am mother of 4 who has dedicated her life to providing children with the best care possible. I am a registered childminder with Ofsted since 2012 within the Fallowfield area. I have a lot of experience working with children with of all ages and needs.

The children’s development is very important, that is why I try to get them to participate in different activities every day. I set the children different tasks to do depending on their age, from learning their ABCs to completing their homework they have received from school. I have many different books at different levels to help improve their reading skills and each week each child gets given a book which they must review back to me. I also have a baby walker which I used for any babies I have in my setting to help them start walking and a toilet training seat to help them get used to using the toilet. I always make home cooked meals so the children can have a balanced healthy and so they can all sit down have a meal together. I aim to make the children feel like they are part of a family and not just staying at someone’s house for a few hours.

I have my own car so I can pick and drop off children at their school and I try to give the parents a quick report of how their child/ children did on the day, both at school and my home.

I have policies set in place to make my setting safe for the children and I have places measures in place to stop from getting harmed. My house has 5 bedrooms and 2 toilets, my house is also baby proofed, I have a stair gate in place to stop the children from climbing and falling off the stairs. Also, all sharp corners are always covered. I have first aid kits and fire blankets in place if need. I also try to teach the children sign to look out for when out in the world to keep themselves from harm.


I speak English, Somali and a little bit of Arabic and French.
