About Me
I am a registered childminder and I currently work alongside an assistant who has been with me for about 20 years. I have been childminding at home for more than 30 years.
Together we provide a warm, loving, caring and creative setting for young children with before and after school care. We provide 3 nutritious meals for all children with some children having breakfast before school. Separate food needs are catered for.
We are both non smokers and English is our first language. I have a 3 bedroom maisonette with a garden which is used all year round.
I have had different childcare experiences. Working as a nanny, in nurseries and spending 12 months working alongside doctors and nurses in a maternity hospital caring for newborns. Giving feeding and bathing demonstrations to new mothers and learning new experiences such as how to tube feed and getting involved in exchange blood transfusions.
We have an abundance of resources. Climbing frames, slides, bikes, rockers, push along toys, puzzles, books and much more. Older children are given IT equipment for visual learning.
We provide individual sleeping rooms with cots for nap time.
We go for walks and engage in the world around us.
For school pick up and outings we use a colourful mini bus. All seats are seat belted and car seats used depending on ages catered for.

My daughter joined Janis childcare since September, when she just turned 13 months old.The settling in was very smooth. The are a lot of activities and toys available for the kids, independence, social skills, basic manners and communication were encouraged. The kids there seemed happy and played well together as well as independetly. I could see that my daughter was encouraged to play independently and became very outgoing and happy whilst also enjoyed playing together. I recommend Janis and her assistant if you want an environment that feels more like a family than institutional. Which worked perfectly well for us.

My daughter has been looked after by Janis and her assistant Angela for almost 3 years and we are really happy with the service they provide. They genuinely care about all of the children they look after and there is a real family vibe which is exactly what we were looking for. They have children of all different ages and it is great to see them all interacting and playing together. Janis has a really well equipped house with lots of toys for indoor and outdoor use, she has an awning over the garden so it can be used all year round which means lots of outdoor time which was another highlight for me. Janis and Angela are really accomodating with flexible hours and are happy to drop off and pick from local schools and nursery so can provide really convenient wrap around care. Overall, I have been really happy and trust them both completely to take care of my daughter when I am working.

Jan is an excellent childminder with years of experience. She has looked after all three of my children over the past 8 years with my youngest starting with her at 9 months old. After visiting many childminders I found jan to have a kind and nurturing approach to the children. The facilities she has for the children to learn and play are second to none with a great outdoor space. She treats the children as part of her family which I found was a big thing for me and the girls. I would highly recommend her services when looking for a childminder.
