About Me
Hi, my name is Becky Gillett. I am a Ofsted registered Childminder.
I live in South Ham, close to Russel Howard park. I live with my partner and our kind energetic and very chatty 4year old son.
I childmind from my home, which has a spacious downstairs living room / play room. My living room has patio doors leading to our garden which is part sheltered by a pergola, this has been invaluable for offering shade on sunny days and is lovely to play under during rainy days.
I have many toys and resources available to the children that help to teach and enhance their skills within all areas of development.
As a Childcare Practitioner with experience I have a sound understanding of child development. This enables me to easily plan activities to suit the children's developmental stages and current interests, which fall in line with the Early years Foundation stage curriculum. We spend a lot of our time outdoors either in my garden or at parks, groups and out for nature walks.
The children have often enjoyed the simpliest of activities such as going out on the bus and feeding the ducks.
My goal is for the children to have fun and learn in a homely environment. Each child will have a learning journal on the Tapestry. Tapestry is an online site where messages and photos can be shared securely with families. I will track each child's development in line with the Early Years Foundation stage curriculum.
I am happy to prepare fresh homemade cold lunches and healthy snacks to provide a tasty diet for the children. Although I do not offer an evening meal I am happy to heat up any meals provided by parents.
My Experience
Childminding experience
I started childminding in Wintre 2019 until September 2020 , I took 9 months break for maternity leave.
My last mindee was with me from 15 months old until starting school last year.
During my first week back working following my maternity leave I had my first graded ofted inspection, I am happy to share my report with prespective parents on request, I am very proud to have such a good report.
I also have 13 years experience in nursery and a variety of child care settings.

Becky has given the children varied play experinces and also provides wonderful care to the children's individual needs.
Becky will produce wonderful in-depth observations with great ease using the Tapestry system, within the setting. Becky sets high standards in her job, which I am sure I will find difficult to fill but I am sure she will continue her high principles wherever she goes.

Becky is a very thoughtful, honest person with great patience.She has enthusiastically supported our children's gardening club for the last three years.
Becky works wonderfully with young children, has the ability to speak to them appropriately and encourage them to play and learn. She loves all the creative side of learning and getting young children involved and always has their best interests at heart.

My Qualifications
I have CACHE Level 3, Diploma in Childcare, Paediatric First Aid and Safer Food Handling. Over the years I have attended many courses, a few of which include safeguarding, EYFS Training, Training for Play workers on special needs including autistic spectrum disorders. Books and Storytime workshop, Focus On Threes, Treasure basket and Heuristic play and schemas training.
My Availability
My hours are 7.30- 5.00 but can be flexible.
Please note from September 2025 I will need families to drop off their little ones by 7.45am to accommodate school drop off time for my son.
I may be able to arrange collection from the Castle Hill area of Winklebury for day care.

Becky was my daughter's childminder from 15 months until she started school. During this time we had changes of circumstances as a family and Becky was supportive and flexible in helping us deal with this and giving my daughter top quality care. In Becky's setting my daughter, who is a very active child, had opportunities to visit groups, take day trips and spend lots of time outdoors. Becky has worked with her on understanding her emotions and how to stay safe, as well as on more academic aspects such as sounds and numbers. My daughter always looked forward to going to Becky's and had opportunities to play with many different toys and demonstrate her creative side. The best thing about Becky is that we formed a collaborative relationship to prepare my daughter for her next steps and my daughter has gone to school a confident and capable little girl.

Where would I have been without Becky! Becky looked after my two boys from 6-18mths and 2-3. She catered brilliantly for both boys needs providing a range of activities, actively following their interests and communicated everything with me not only over tapestry but always had time to talk. I saw both my boys grow in confidence in Becky’s care.
Becky regularly took the boys to groups and to parks and created opportunities for outdoor play. She also worked with me in potty training, all effortlessly taken in her stride. Her service is second to none for the money she charges, I can’t recommend her enough and will absolutely use her again should the need arise!

Becky cared for my son from aged 6 months to 2 years. She was always friendly and approachable and answered all of my questions and concerns reagrding my son's health and development. Becky has a lovely, clean home and lots of toys and learning materials and she also has a safe outside space for playing. Becky was great at reading with my son and he now really loves books! She was flexible to any changes I needed to make to our childcare times and was easily reachable via phone and text message. Becky used the Tapestry app to keep me informed of what my son was doing, and how he was every day and was really good at passing on information.
Becky's prices are very reasonable and even though her prices do not include food, nappies and wipes I would often find that if my son wanted or needed something else, he was provided with it!
Becky took my son along to the library, to a sensory group, to a toddler group and regularly out to the park and for walks.
I completely recommend Becky and will be seeking her services for my future childcare needs.

Thank you for the lovely review. It was a pleasure caring for AJ and watching him grow into a lovely little boy. We had lots of fun adventures exploring together. Always happy to accommodate any future childcare needs you may have.
Becky cared for my daughter for a short period of time, but she went out of her way to ensure my little girl had the best experience whilst in her care. Becky is extremely welcoming and was fantastic with my daughter. I have no hesitation recommending Becky, and I hope we can return to her in the near future
