About Me

I am a childminder who is registered with and inspected by Ofsted. I have an NVQ level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development, and current Paediatric First Aid Certificate and Safeguarding Training. I am CRB cleared by Ofsted at an enhanced level, as is my husband. I also hold all the relevant Public Liability Insurance, ensuring your children are in safe hands. I currently hold a Herts Quality Standard, which means that I have been rigorously inspected by the local council and have been approved under their scheme as offering quality care and development opportunities
I already child mind for a number of local families (References are available on request) as well as having 3 children of my own. Currently 15, 12 and 8. I have 2 family pets, both cats.
I have experience of caring for children from 10 days to 14 years
My home is spacious and well set up for a child's individual needs. Children have access to outside space and activities as well as opportunities for outings and walks to local parks, woods and facilities.
I provide meals for the children in my care, with a sensible approach to healthy eating. Most food is home prepared and uses good quality, often organic, ingredients. I am able to cater for a variety of dietary requirements if requested.
My aim is provide a homely environment where children can access a wide variety of experiences.

My Experience

I have been enjoying working as a childminder since April 2008. Prior to qualifying and registering I cared for my own children at home after giving up work as a residential social worker, I found that both my work and parenting experiences have helped me immensely in my vocation as a childminder to a variety of different children. I have experience of working across a wide range of age groups, my youngest started at 10 days and the eldest currently 14 years. I also have experience of working with children with Special/ Additional Needs.

Good

Children benefit from a curriculum focused on their interests and developmental needs. The childminder promotes independence and social skills through various activities and regular outings. Parents provide positive feedback on their children's progress and the caring environment. However, disorganised routines and transitions impact children's emotional well-being and learning time. Improvements in organisation and incorporation of early mathematical concepts are recommended.
