I am an Ofsted registered childminder and have been registered since February 2010. I am passionate about what I do and make sure that all the children in my setting are having fun. I strive to provide to provide a nurturing and loving environment for all my children so that I can make a positive difference to their lives. I develop very close and loving relationships with my children and their families. I am committed to improving the care that I provide and attend regular training courses. I have completed my level 3 diploma in childcare.
I offer a home away from home environment. The children sit around a dining table to eat all their meals together. We celebrate birthdays and special occasions and children feel welcomed, valued and loved. I have a playroom in my home filled with educational and stimulating resources and these are often changed or rearranged with the child in mind to ensure it is age appropriate and relevant for their learning. I have a large secure garden with various toys and resources for all age groups.
I am married and a mum to two wonderful children aged 15 and 10. Before becoming a childminder, I worked in HR in the city for a large corporate organisation so fully understand the pressures that parents face with juggling childcare and their work commitments so therefore I try to be very flexible with my parents.
I work in close partnership with my parents and provide them with updates during the day which includes photographs so parents feel included in their child’s day. This is sent to parents in WhatsApp at lunch time each day.
I take my children on outings to further enhance their learning whilst in my care. We regularly meet up with other childminder’s so that the children build relationships with other children too. We attend playgroups, soft plays, etc. Outings will always be planned based on the age of the children in my care, their abilities and interests.
I am committed to ensuring that the children have healthy and balanced meals and snacks throughout the day. I am very flexible to accommodate parents/childrens preferences. I also cater for children with allergies.
I am availalbe to care for children before and after school for children attending Fleet Infant School and Velmead Junior School.
My Experience
I have been working as a childminder since February 2010. I have cared for my own two children and looked after children aged from 6 months.

Our family have been lucky enough to have Desi look after our littles ones since 2022. I concur with all positive statements from others’ reviews about the amount of love and devotion that Desi gives to all kids in her care and we’re so grateful ours benefit from it too.
The amount that is personally invested by Desi in the development, well-being and level of enjoyment that our kids gain when with her is simply immeasurable. Utterly professional at all times and always willing to offer advice if asked….and it has been!
Her setting is ideal, her family are lovely and her approach and style towards childcare is exemplary.
I’m a firm believer that if things seem too good to be true they usually are but in this instance that isn’t the case. We’d be lost without you. Thank you! <3

I met Des when my son was only 12 weeks old. I instantly connected with her and her family! Des guided me through the process of childminding and made sure I was comfortable with my choices. My son flourished in Des' care. He loved going to her home on the days Des looked after him and he stayed with her for 2+ years until we moved, but even then Des kept a space for my son for months until we were able to secure a space closer to home. We would have been lost without her help.
Each day we received regular updates and pictures of how he was doing, what he ate and the activities he was participating in. He regularly went on outings and had interaction with other childminders and their children so he could build social relationships outside of Des and her setting. To this day, he still sees everyone! I knew where he was on the early years framework and Des worked with me (still to this day) on his development and how I could support this at home outside of her care.
Des is the mother you want for your child when you aren't able to be there. She is the warmest, kind - hearted person who genuinely loves all her kids and wants the best for them. She is just amazing and I miss chatting to her every day at pick up. I consider Des and her family our friends. Proof of this is we are still in touch months later, we see each other as families lunching together and my son will continue to see her when his current care is closed for holidays. Des is a one-in-a-million gem of a woman and I'm proud and blessed to call her my friend.

Desire looked after my 10 month old son for a few months before she went on maternity leave. We absolutely loved having Desire as our childminder and my son was so happy with her. I had known Desire for just over 3 years before she became our childminder and she is still a good friend even though she no longer looks after my little boy. Desires paperwork is amazing and she does very detailed files for all her children. She has a learning theme each month and plans all her activities around this. She cooks wonderful food and plans lots of activities to take the children out and about. She is very in tune with the children and if one child isn't feeling well then she stays at home and does loads of house activities which the children really enjoy. Her house has lots of open space for the children to move around and is very safe. She constantly sends parents updates through the day while they are working which is very reassuring. Most of all Desire is exceptionally caring and the children get lots of cuddles and love. She has such a positive attitude and there is always laughter and fun in her house. We would recommend Desire in a heartbeat.

Desire looked after my daughter for a year and half until I started mat leave last spring, but we continued to see Desire and her family as friends. Then we moved to Ireland last summer and it was very sad for my daughter and all of us. I still remember that my daughter and Desire's daughter hugged each other and cried the day we said good bye. They were so cute.
Desire wasn't just a childminder but a true friend. My daughter had so much fun at her house every day and she often cried refusing to come home! Desire cared for my my daughter as if she was her own daughter and I never worried about her when I was at work.
Desire took the kids to various play groups and classes to make sure they have fun as well as lots of activities they did at home. The most important thing for me was that my daughter was safe and having fun under Desire's care.
I believe any kids will have lots of fun with Desire and their parents will be happy with it too.
