About Me
We are a husband and wife team of Ofsted Registered Childminders based Sutherland Grove, Southfields, SW18. We are passionate about giving children the care they deserve. We are called Home Grown Little Acorn as we want to give the children in our care the same care they would receive at home. Also from little acorns mighty oaks grow, which is our motto and we take our role in helping to shape these future acorn trees seriously. We specialise in children under the age of 3 years, although some end up loving it so much they don't want to leave until they are 4 and ready for reception.
My wife (Anja) and I have two lovely children, aged 15 years and 17 years old. After having our son my wife decided to register as a Childminder as she saw so many of her friends facing the challenge of finding someone who will not only care for their children but love them and care for them with enthusiasm and excitement. This was the best thing she could ever have done as she absolutely love minding! I joined her in 2017 as I've seen the impact she's made on the children and the children have always loved having me around in the past. This has been an exciting new venture and we haven't looked back.
We have a triple fronted garden and a small playground which the kids just love with some play equipment (water tray, trampoline, playhouse, slide frame, swing), ride on toys, balls and racquets etc. Weather permitting the kids spend a lot of their time in the garden if we are home.
We do plenty of fun activities, including: painting and crafts, baking, dancing and singing, creative play, water, sand, play dough and other messy play and trips to the park. We also attend great local playgroups all year and visit the local Animal farm or Chessington to see the animals and go on the carousel whenever possible, throughout the year. We both have a full clean driving licence and use the car with Multimac car seats for transport to these and are fully insured.
We love the challenges each child brings and finding new and exciting ways of helping them to learn and develop into well balanced, confident and caring children.
At Home Grown we believe children need to be children and must have the opportunity to explore their surroundings in a safe environment and we encourage the children to experience the different objects and textures around them.
We provide quality, engaging, fun childminding in a safe, warm and loving environment. If you would like more details or to arrange a visit then we would love to hear from you. My Experience
We have excellent references from the parents we have minded for. Anja has been minding since March 2009 and volunteered in Childrens playgroups and as a Sunday School Teacher before she had my own children. Ryan has been minding since March 2019 and volunteers in Childrens playgroups.
Children have always been a passion for us and we believe that raising them/ minding them is such an important role. Our daily efforts, interactions and care is what will shape their lives. Forming positive attachments is crucial in children's development and we aim to give the children in our care a positive and nurturing relationship.
My Qualifications
We both have an up to date enhanced DBS check with Full Paediatric First Aid Certificates and we are both registered with Ofsted with a Good rating. We are also registered with the Information Commissioners office and have up to date Safeguarding courses completed. We are also Gold members of Childcare.co.uk and are registered with Wandsworth Family Registration Services, which can be found online.

Currently we have a vacancy for 3 - 4 days a week 7:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Thursday.
We do not offer school or nursery runs and we do not work during the Wandsworth school holidays, which is about 12 weeks of the year.
** We do offer 15/ 30 weekly government funded hours scheme within our setting fees as well as the government tax reduction scheme.

We have been absolutely delighted in the care our son has received since enrolling him with Ryan and Anja at HGLA. With all the stresses and anxieties that come with separating from your 12month old, they couldn’t have done more to put us at ease. They offer a number of settling in days to ensure your child is comfortable being around them and then once staying there they provide photo updates throughout each day alongside a diary to provide insight into how they’ve spent their time. This made us feel so involved in our child’s day, and reassured us that they were happy and enjoying themselves.
HGLA provide so many activities for the children in their care, from visits to local playgroups, messy play, story time and even day trips to Chessington. We know that when our son is there he’s not just passing the time but is learning, growing and having fun.
We would have no doubt about recommending Ryan and Anja to any and all parents in the local area – we’ve found their care nothing short of outstanding!

Dropping off our first child in the care of someone else so that I could return to work was emotional, nerve-wracking and slightly overwhelming. But from the very first day, Anja and Ryan made us feel totally at ease and confident that we’d made the right decision.
Ryan and Anja are genuinely one (two!) in a million. They’re kind, patient, fun, calm, genuine and trustworthy. No other words for it, they are outstanding childminders.
From around 13 months, we started my son at nursery two days a week and with Anja and Ryan for the other two days a week. It became very apparent pretty quickly which he preferred; when dropping off at nursery he would sit on the floor and sob. When dropping off with Anja and Ryan, he would stretch out his arms and go inside without a backwards glance (leaving me the one sobbing!) As such, after about 2 months, we took him out of nursery and started him with Anja and Ryan full time. Our son could not be happier with them, and he has progressed so much during his time at HGLA.
Ryan and Anja provide a variety of enrichment activities for the children each week, from playgroups with other childminders to home-crafts, story and song times, outdoor play in their large garden (trampoline, cats, water, swings, slides, Wendy house), and trips to Chessington Zoo, among other things. They send regular photo updates of our son, which is such a joy to see during the day. Furthermore, they complete a digital diary for him every day, which gives us a little insight into what he’s got up to that the photos haven’t shown.
My husband and I go to work confident in the knowledge that our son is well cared for, safe, learning and (best of all) happy. We now have another son and if we are still in London when my maternity leave is over, we won’t hesitate to send him to HGLA, too.
If you’re in the Putney/Wandsworth/Southfields area, don’t look anywhere else. You won’t regret it.

Thank you for such a wonderful review, we love having your first born gem and have loved watching him grow and can't wait to do the same with your second.
My husband and I are so grateful that we found HGLA. As first-time parents, choosing a childminder was a nerve-wracking task, but we couldn’t have asked for a better fit. Our daughter was with Anja and Ryan from 8 months to 1 year, at which point we moved out of London. During her time at HGLA, she really thrived.
They do so many great activities (inside and outside the home) and she was able to experience lots of new things, like visiting urban farms and Chessington. Most importantly, Anja and Ryan both took such great care of our daughter, and we could tell how loved she was!
She will certainly miss HGLA and all the wonderful friends she made there.
