Hello!
My name is Rebecca, and I’m an Italian who has called Edinburgh home for the past six years. I am 28, and I hold a degree in Interior Architecture and Spatial Design, but recently, I’ve transitioned my focus to Sustainable Urban Development. My dissertation centered on children's mobility in cities, a subject that reflects my passion for ensuring that children have access to fair opportunities and live in environments that support their growth and well-being.
Currently, I’m taking a break from full-time education and plan to continue my studies next year. In the meantime, I’m working at an after-school club at Bruntsfield Primary School.
When I moved to Edinburgh at 22, I volunteered full-time for two months at the North Edinburgh Arts Centre. This vibrant and creative hub offered a range of activities for families and young people, from drama and dance to arts and crafts and gardening. The experience was invaluable and further fueled my commitment to working with children in inspiring and meaningful ways.
I’m a caring, empathetic, and creative person, with a deep interest in cultures and art. I’ve previously taken courses in art history and have always loved creative activities like drawing and illustration. In recent years, I’ve tried to dedicate more time to improving these skills, often drawing inspiration from children’s books.
A typical babysitting session with me might include arts and crafts in a cozy environment, outdoor time exploring nature, storytelling, preparing healthy snacks, or a visit to the National Museum. I aim to create a warm, nurturing atmosphere—whether it's sharing tea and cookies, reading inspirational stories, or engaging in creative projects.
In addition, I can offer lessons in Italian and basic Spanish (A2/B1 level) through fun, interactive play. Though I do hold a EU driver’s license, I haven’t yet driven in the UK, as I prefer walking and exploring on foot.
Open to hosting babysitting sessions in my home, depending on your preferences.
I’ve completed all necessary criminal record checks and hold a PVG certificate, as required for my current role.

My Experience
In addition to volunteering at the North Edinburgh Arts Centre, I also completed a five-month placement at Let’s Talk Young People, in Craigmillar, a centre dedicated to supporting youth. During this placement, I created a joyful café and recreational space, focusing on design strategies for children, including trauma-informed design. The work I did there was shortlisted as one of the five finalists for the Best Placement Competition at my university, a truly formative experience that taught me a great deal about creating nurturing environments for children.
Additionally, I provided occasional babysitting during my first year in Scotland, further enhancing my experience and ability to connect with children.
