About Me
I am a first year student at Heriot-Watt University, studying BSc Actuarial Science. During the academic year I am based on campus at Heriot-Watt and during holidays I am based in Glasgow but with good transport links to return to Edinburgh when needed. I have lots of work experience in various fields and all relevant experience is detailed below. Through work such as retail and hospitality I have learned the value of communication and demonstrating my understanding.
My Experience
Since 2017 I have worked at the Merkland and Campsie View playschemes for young people in East Dunbartonshire with severe and complex needs during the school holidays. I work with a team to provide them with fun and stimulating activites in a safe and secure environment, whilst taking account of their individual needs. Through that position I also secured a part time job for a little boy in Milngavie who now attends the Craighalbert Centre. I organise different activities and outings that interest him and use positive strategies to engage and communicate with him. My role also includes administering his medication, feeding him and taking care of his personal care needs.
My Qualifications
I have a PVG certificate and am currently in the process of applying for an SSSC in support work in a daycare of children service. Through my job at the playscheme I have training in moving and handling, child protection, behaviour management and children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
My Availability
My availability changes day to day due to my timetable but I am very flexible and willing to make myself available on short notice if desperately needed.
