About Me
I'm a trained teacher, registered with Ofsted as a childminder in the Harestock area of Winchester. I live with my enthusiastic and lively 7 year old daughter who attends Harestock school, a new(ish!) baby boy (born February 2024) and our lovely cat Suki. We are within easy walking distance of Harestock School and close to the fantastic Bradley Road playground. We have a busy home and enjoy cooking, arts and crafts and gardening (all very messy and exploratory!). We have a great little garden and try to be outside as much as possible and take pleasure in (attempting) growing our own fruit and vegetables, going for muddy walks and generally making the most of the great outdoors. We take advantage of the great playgroups and activities that Winchester has to offer, as well as trips to the library, zoo, water meadows, woods, beach, farm and others.
My Experience
I am qualified teacher with a specialism in Early Years and have taught in Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 in London and in Winchester over the last 15 years. I am passionate about learning through exploration and play and believe that children need plenty of time, conversation and varied and exciting experiences to develop their understanding of the world. I have loved taking my career in a new direction, in which I can continue to use and develop my passion for children’s learning and development, whilst also being with my own children and sharing these experiences with them. In London I was responsible for training new teachers in my area in phonics and early reading and have maintained an interest in this, so I am happy to offer advice and support with early reading and writing, if the logistics with other children permit.

Introduction to Childminding and the Early Years Foundation Stage
Food Hygiene Level 2
My Availability
I currently have spaces available from January 2025, depending on the age of all children involved. Please contact me to discuss your requirements further, and for information about my fees.
My opening hours are 7.30 – 5.00pm Monday to Thursday all year round for children from 0 to 8. I may have capacity to take school age children during the holidays for full days, as long as ratios allow and with advance booking only.
At present, my school pick up/drop offs are only at Harestock primary.

We are so grateful to have found Alice - she is warm, nurturing and provides such a wonderful setting. We love our daily updates and pictures and all the activities which she does with our daughter. I can really see how much care and attention Alice puts in as our daughter is absolutely thriving and developing under her care. Thank you Alice!

When we weren't able to find a place at a nursery, a friend of ours suggested a childminder and we stumbled across Alice, and I feel so lucky to have done so!
Our son loves Alice (and her daughter, and her cat!) and he's thrived under her care. He can't run into the house quick enough when I drop him off in the mornings!
As a parent I've felt completely at ease when my son's with Alice and this is partly due to the way Alice communicates. We get daily updates, photos and videos of what he's been up to and how he's been - so we never feel like we miss a moment.
We are relocating soon, which means we will need to find alternative childcare and I'm gutted about that. We want to take Alice with us!
I could write much more - but ultimately I would wholeheartedly recommend Alice and I can't speak highly enough of her and how she's taken care of my son.

Our little girl has been cared for by Alice since September and we couldn't be happier. We were apprehensive that, being a lock-down baby, she would find it difficult to adjust to the new setting however, the environment at Alice's has been perfect for her. She is able to explore, socialise and develop confidence in a variety of settings. The daily updates we receive of her either at the park, woods, zoo or amongst the range of sensory activities at Alice's are lovely to receive.

My daughter has been cared for by Alice for more than 2 years and will continue attending her setting for as long as possible. Alice’s house is a home from home from my daughter. She loves going to Alice and the activities that are provided are beyond amazing. Alice provides activities which are fun, educational and catered towards the individual needs and interests of the children she cares for. My daughters abilities and progress never ceases to amaze me and much of her progress is very much down to the nurturing and educational environment provided. Alice is kind, flexible and extremely professional. I don’t think I could of been more lucky in being able to find someone who adores my child and who is equally adored by my child (and me!). I couldn’t recommend her more highly.

Alice is the envy of all my friends who have children. I don’t believe we could have been luckier to find her. I was incredibly anxious leaving our daughter (who was 7 months at the time and now almost 2) to return to my job commuting in London...but most days Lillie doesn’t want to leave and every morning is excited to go to Alice’s incredible set up in her beautiful home. Daily she amazes me with her creative and educational activities that our daughter loves and I truly believe her impact on Lillie has been wonderful. Alice is timely and professional and yet is caring and compassionate on all levels. I can’t recommend her enough and I will happily offer any further information!

I could not rate Alice high enough! I was so nervous leaving my son with a childminder for the first time. Alice was recommended to me through this group when I first moved here and I would never change. She is so amazing, energetic and caring with all of the children she looks after and very flexible and does her upmost to help out with ever changing circumstances!
