My Summary

My Experience

As someone who comes from a large family with four siblings, I have always been comfortable around children. Currently, I am looking after an 18-month-old girl every Monday. Our routine usually involves taking a walk while she naps in her stroller, followed by a visit to the playground at the Meadows. Depending on the weather, we sometimes explore the museum or the library.

From January 2022 until October 2023, I regularly cared for two children, aged 2 and 3, three times a week. My responsibilities included picking them up from nursery, preparing lunch, and planning engaging activities to keep them entertained. In August 2023, the family welcomed a new baby, but they returned to Chile in October. However, I visited them in January and February 2024 and looked after their three children (now aged 6 months, 3 years, and 4 years), which gave me extensive experience with both babies and toddlers.

Last summer, I took care of 9-year-old twins daily. We enjoyed a variety of activities, such as visiting the Meadows, exploring the National Museum, and hiking Arthur’s Seat. I continue to babysit them occasionally during school holidays or when their parents need a break for an evening out.

I also babysit for a few other families on an occasional basis. One family has two children, aged 1 and 6, and I look after them about once a month. Initially, the age gap posed a challenge, but I quickly created a friendly environment where both children felt safe and happy.

In addition, I have experience with older children, as I occasionally babysit two kids aged 6 and 7. These sessions usually take place in the evening, involving dinner, playing games, or reading books, and preparing them for bed.

My Qualifications

I am currently studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Edinburgh, where I’ve developed strong analytical and problem-solving skills, alongside a disciplined approach to managing complex tasks. I graduated from Liberton High School in 2020 with top grades in Advanced Highers (Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics) and Highers (English, ESOL, Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Human Biology). In addition to my academic achievements, I completed the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award and The Mark Scott Leadership for Life Award, both of which have equipped me with leadership abilities, resilience, and effective communication skills. These experiences ensure that I am well-prepared to handle various situations in childcare with confidence and care. My strong organisational skills, creativity in planning activities, and ability to engage with children of different ages make me a reliable and capable babysitter.
