My Summary
About Me
I have over 10 years experience in childcare and have raised my own children too. I can take your child to activities and engage them in enriching educational activities whilst being a nurturing, empathic carer.
Children need a balanced day - play (including engaging and stimulating activities), rest and good nourishment. I think if these foundational needs are taken care of you have happy and responsive children.
I believe in a child-centred, gentle parenting approach that's considerate of the child as an individual, with clear boundaries. I would endeavour to provide activities that are suited to the child's needs and developmental stage where possible.
I value learning through play using stories and games and encouraging language development through talking and activities. In my experience, free-play, role-play, exploratory/immersive play develops the child's interests and imagination - key to their life long we'll bring and success.
My Experience
For the past 8 years I have worked in children's centres in a variety of roles: running open family sessions (rhyme time/stay & play/crafts/outdoor nature play/cooking), and supporting the nursery when short staffed. I have engaging yung children in their development of language/listening skills through the delivery of story and play sessions which has given me a good understanding of how to interest and focus young minds.
I have experience with a range of ages, for example, I worked in adventure playgrounds for 5-12 year olds. I have also assisted children with reading at school and running a nature club. I have a background in media/journalism so I could provide help with improving written and spoken English as well as support with homework generally.
Currently, I work part-time delivering forest school sessions for nursery and school aged children in woodland settings. I believe children benefit from regular time spent in green spaces.
