My Summary
About Me
Hi. My name is Sharon and I live with my husband and our youngest son who is 18. I am a registered childminder with the Care Inspectorate and a member of the Scottish Childminding Association. We live in a spacious home with a playroom and a big garden with a large hut to shelter/play in.
For me, my children are the centre of my world and I aim to make other children in my care feel welcome and secure and to provide a fun and stimulating environment for them. I am a very caring and reliable person and always put children’s needs first.

‘Sharon has been taking care and of J for 2 years. They spend a lot of time outside, in the garden or at various parks which we like - exploring nature, experiencing water play, and building/ constructing. All of the children, regardless of age, play well together and they meet with a small group of childminders for different occasions/ days out when they play in a slightly bigger group which is nice. They also go for day trips to places like the transport museum, which J loves! Sharon has been encouraging J with his numbers and letters through games and play and they follow educational schemes such as the toothbrushing initiative. Sharon shares lots of pictures of what they have been doing. She has a very calm temperament and the children respond really well to this, J is very happy and comfortable in her company and this gives us a lot of comfort. We will be sad to leave when J starts school in August.’
And an older one -
We’ve had Sharon as our childminder for more than 8 years now covering 3 days per week. She took on looking after our eldest when he was about 10 months old and he’s now 9. Our other 2 boys starting going to Sharon when I finished maternity leave and they are now 5 1/2 and 3 years old. We feel so lucky to have her, she has provided a safe, caring and stimulating environment for our boys to grow in. She continually tries to think of new activities and ways to help develop their skills and to help them overcome any difficulties they may have. The boys also have a great social life when they’re with Sharon - meeting up with other childminders and making great use of local resources such as the community centre, libraries, parks, and outdoor play groups. The boys also love to spend time at her house and will often choose to stay and play with the toys there or in the garden when given the option. The added bonus of having Sharon’s boys around is also appreciated, particularly by our 9 year old who loves to spend some time with the “big boys” who are so kind and caring. Sharon’s calm and caring demeanour is admirable and she has developed a close bond with all our boys. When we’re at work we are completely confident that the boys are receiving love, care and attention to the highest level.
My Experience
I have so loved being a Mum and helping in my sons' Primary School, it inspired me to change my career to work with children. I worked in the travel industry for 25 years but I always knew it wasn't me. :-) I have been minding now since January 2012 and have loved it dearly. We have established good routines, the children are happy and my parental feedback has been very positive.
My Qualifications
Although I don't have any formal childcare qualifications, I have lots of experience with young children through the school and meeting my 2 boys would show you what kind of Mum I am. My house is a busy one with my children's friends always welcome.

Sharon has just started childminding my three year old daughter and it has been the best decision I could have made. My daughter shouts "hurray" when I tell her she is going to see Sharon and her boys. She has a lovely welcoming home, perfect for children of all ages and she takes care to ensure that everyone in her care is given attention. Another huge benefit, is that my daughter gets to go out and about with Sharon for lots of fresh air and fun. I did wonder if there would not be as much peer group interaction as a nursery but Sharon goes to baby & toddler groups and meets up with other childminders so it really is the best of both worlds. I cannot say enough how grateful I am that I know I can leave my daughter in Sharon's care and she will come home happy with lots of stories about her day that we can share. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her and I am very lucky to have found her.
Sharon has been minding my 8-month-old baby for the past four months and I have found her to be a very reliable, honest and organised person. I wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend her. Her home has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and my son always enjoys his time there. He arrives and leaves there with a big smile! He enjoys the company of Sharon's two lovely and impeccably behaved sons and benefits from getting out and about in the fresh air and meeting other children and babies. Sharon naturally has a lovely way with babies. She is gentle and relaxed around them which has a very good effect on everyone, especially the parents! I have every confidence that my son is in very capable hands and my only concern is that he has a better time in her house than in mine!
