I am a highly experienced academic tutor with numerous years of active experience privately tutoring children, teenagers and university students. Over the course of several years, I have tutored over 150 students one-to-one with each of them showing significant progress, as well as, thoroughly enjoying the lessons.

As a Mathematics and Psychology student at University in London, I have gained an understanding of children's varying learning styles, and how to mould my teaching strategies to best suit each individual child's strengths and style. I am also in the process of completing a Level 3 Award in Education and Training. Throughout my educational career I have obtained top A+ grades, and plan to attend medical school in the future. I am very academic-orientated, and hold education as a top priority.
I have tutored countless students at primary, middle and high school level, and am also an official academic-writing and maths tutor for University students. I am extremely familiar with Reception, KS1, KS2 and KS3 curriculum/syllabus. Whether you require assistance alongside homeschooling, 'target tutoring' to strengthen your child's weaker areas or someone to work through your child's schoolwork with them, I can definitely help! I also assist with boosting children's self-confidence, so their true abilities can shine through. I specialise in Maths, English, Reading and Writing tutoring, however, provided the appropriate materials and syllabus I can successfully tutor in any subject.

My Experience
With over four years experience, I have privately tutored many students in the past. I am currently online tutoring (via Zoom) many students aged 3 to 18 years old. My tutees have shown significant improvement in their grades. One of my most recent tutees, went from achieving F grades to B+ grades within a matter of weeks, and another obtaining an A*. Although, online tutoring is deemed an 'untraditional' method of tutoring, I personally think it renders much, if not more, academic improvement than face-to-face sessions! It also eliminates the hassle associated with travel time and costs, and allows your child to learn in the comfort and familiarity of their own home. It is also safer for both parties, as you are not allowing a stranger into your home and I do not have enter strange homes. All subjects can be taught via online tutoring, including handwriting and speech!
I aim to make my tutoring sessions as interactive, fun and enjoyable as possible, to ensure my tutees are engaged the entire time; this includes, the use of various colours when illustrating on my digital whiteboard, playing relevant educational games at the end of every session and incorporating creative aspects into the sessions (art projects, journaling, fictional writing, posters, etc). Journaling at the end of each lesson allows my students to reflect on what they've learnt and identify specific areas they need to improve on; this creates a sense of motivation to achieve their goals. Whether it is a virtual clap after each correct answer or a personalised certificate acknowledging their hard work, I ALWAYS take time to reward my students and appreciate their effort! These are methods I use to boost confidence and self-belief within my students.
In terms of lesson plan, I create individual, personalised schedules for each of my tutees. I do much preparation/planning prior to each session, which requires great time and effort. This ensures they are progressing in the 'target areas' and are on track. Therefore, my lesson plans are all completely unique and geared towards each individual student; this allows for maximum success. You can provide me with schoolwork to work through with your child, or I can find/create year-appropriate curriculum (worksheets, activities). Either way, your child will further their learnings.
I also have extensive experience with Special Needs (SEN) children; these include, Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia and Fragile-X.
In terms of University-level tutoring, I currently am and have privately tutored over 30 university students in their respective courses, with each of them achieving at least a B+ in their final exams. As a top A-grade student, I provide the following services to university students: assignment reviewing/proofreading/editing, explaining complex concepts in-depth, academic writing workshops, referencing workshops and providing guidance and feedback. I also work through my students’ assignments/presentations step-by-step with them to ensure we produce the best possible product. I specialise in Psychology, Business, Marketing, Mathematics, Education and Childhood courses. However, I can assist in any courses’ assignments in regards to improving academic-style writing. When deadlines are approaching, I am very flexible with timing; for example, I can conduct sessions very early morning or late at night. My tutoring rates depend on the rigour and depth of the subject being taught. More advanced or higher-level subjects will call for a higher cost. Keep in mind, you are paying for the time and effort I put in to ensure your child's success: QUALITY EDUCATION IS WORTH THE INVESTMENT!

My daughter has always struggled with confidence in Maths and I was worried she would fail her Maths GCSE. Fortunately, that did not happen due to Serena’s intervention in the last few months leading up to GCSE examination. Serena showed great patience and understanding which increased my daughters confidence greatly and showed my daughter how to tackle GCSE Maths questions in ways she understood, something that her school teachers had not been able to do. All thanks to Serena my daughter passed her GCSE Maths with strong marks and we are super pleased as family. Serena was reliable and flexible with her time and I highly recommend her.

My son has been working with Serena for over a year since year 4 lockdown. We have continued working with her as her relationship with my son is amazing. She keeps him focused and has adapted to his learning style . Although gifted and talented he has specific learning problems which she has taken on board. I do supply a lot of his teaching materials as he needs to be pushed in certain areas for the 11+ and independent exams.
Serena communicates really well with me and together we review his progress or areas she feels he needs to focus more on.
Couldn’t recommend her more if your serious about enhancing or supporting your child’s education enjoyment and development

Tutoring of any type but especially Online tutoring was a new venture for us as a family.
My daughter settled in right from the initial session. We saw a huge improvement in her work especially her maths and she really enjoyed her sessions with Serena. It was a great support over the last 18 months particularly during the home schooling periods. Would definitely recommend Serena to any parents looking for a tutor.

I reached out to Serena to help my 11 yr old cope with maths. He was slipping due to online teaching, and although not a whiz at can do well if he applies himself. Serena responded warmly, and I was very impressed by her organisational skills. We set up the lessons quickly and it was just enough to allow my son to feel back in control again. She can work with you on your needs, and has plenty of ideas on how to make things flow smoothly. I also thought it was great for my son to have such a young and competent role model!

Online tutoring was a new venture for us as a family. My kids settled in right from the 1st session, with our younger son especially fond of Serena. We saw the tangible improvement in their work. However, more importantly, the kids enjoyed their sessions with Serena and constantly looked forward to tutoring time.

Serena has been tutoring my special needs boy for quite a while now. She has been so good, flexible, friendly yet firm and extremely patient. She is open to suggestions and tries different styles of teaching my challenging son. She has helped my son to develop his maths and english skills. Highly recommended👍
