About Me
Mum to a 5 year old who is home schooled.
Love looking after children of all ages but have the most experience within Early Years and 5-7 year olds. Through being a mum myself and looking after friends' children, I am confident with much younger children too. My own daughter had significant feeding issues as a new born so I have experience and endless patience with fussy feeders, sleepers and difficult to settle babies.
Qualified primary school teacher with a degree in Geography and Economics. Specialised knowledge in helping children grasp basics of reading, writing and maths. Strongly passionate about individualised learning and finding what works best for each child. For young children, learning should be fun, practical and highly engaging.
All children learn best through play and being around good role models, Alongside tutoring positions, I still very much enjoy just helping young children with their day to day routines and just having fun. I would also like to consider part-time nanny or childminding positions.
My Experience
I have 20 years experience of teaching in primary schools. I have mainly taught within the Early Years and Key Stage 1, but as a former senior teacher, have a strong knowledge of the whole National Curriculum. I have a thorough understanding of how children learn to read, write and acquire maths skills. I have considerable experience in assessing where children are with their learning and planning their next steps to raise their achievement and self esteem. Learning should always be fun and meaningful. There is always a way to help all children succeed.
