About Me
Due to a medical emergency we are looking for a nanny/babysitter for the next days (maybe more)
While longer 10 hour days preferable, also open to hear from those able to only work shorter days.
We're looking for a kind and reliable nanny to start ASAP (October at the latest) and work Monday to Thursday 7am-5pm (or thereabouts).
A bit about us:
We're a relaxed and fun loving family of five. The children are five, two and a half, and 7 months old (boy, girl, boy). Our ethos is for the kids to have a caring, structured environment to play and develop in. The 5 year old is in a school a five minute walk away. He likes sport and lego, board games and school. The 2 year old attends a term-time only forest school 2-days a week another 5 minute walk away. She loves let’s pretend and playdoh, park trips and dressing up. The baby is quite chilled and generally fits in with what the rest of us are doing. Just started weening and he seems pretty keen.
I’m starting a new ‘hybrid working’ role where I’ll be working between my out-of-the-way upstairs office and central London. Dad’s work is primarily central London based.
My Requirements
What we're looking for in a nanny:
- Reliability - we don't have a fall-back in the case of absence
- Confidence and consistency - ability to manage the varying, sometimes conflicting needs of the 3 children.
- Common sense and good intuition - to support a calm, structured environment for the children.
- Creativity and responsiveness - encourage childrens' interests by using their fleeting passions as inspiration for activities.
- Organised and energetic - needed for getting everyone up and out to school and other activities.
- Childcare qualifications - not required but would appreciate an understanding of child development and early year education.
- Good level of English - for efficient communication and to be able to support the 5 year old with reading from school.
Responsibilities:
- Getting the children up and out every day.
- Organising varied, social activities for the younger ones when not in school (toddler groups and play dates).
- Facilitating stimulating play, craft, music and story times in the house.
- Taking them to one or two after school clubs or play dates a week (mostly for the 5 year old).
- Meal preparation for the children.
- Small top-up shops and occasional errands (such as going to post office)
- Building a routine, including naps, for everyone's (but particularly the little-ones') benefit.
- Light housekeeping (putting on and emptying dishwasher and washing machine, laundry, and keeping children's bedrooms, kitchen and living area tidy).
- Being available for occasional, pre-agreed evening babysitting would be welcome.
