Ofsted Registered Childminder In Kirkby
About Me
*Opening 3rd September 2024 - No Places Available*
Hi, I’m Clare. I am 41 years old and currently live in Kirkby. I have a 2 year old son and two guinea pigs. I am a caring and enthusiastic person who is passionate about helping babies and young children to learn and reach their full potential. I am a very patient person who is able to improve self-esteem and build children’s confidence with regards to their learning and also develop their independence at the same time.
I have been self employed for the last 7 years, running my own private tutoring business, home-schooling a child with Autism 2 mornings a week and running my own children's yoga and mindfulness classes three times a week at various venues in Knowsley and West Lancashire. I am also a licensed home dog boarder, this is my main job since having my son but I am due to finish this at the end of August.
My home has a large living area that leads into a small outdoor space, which I am in the process of setting up with lots of opportunities for learning outside. This will include access to water/sand play, lots of physical exploration using obstacle course equipment, slide and wooden climbing frame to develop gross motor skills. I am also wanting to have a large chalkboard for practicing mark making and developing the children's fine motor skills.
I also have a spacious hallway, which I am going to use as a calming/relaxing area to wind down for nap time and also an area children can go to for quiet time or some space away from the main play area.
I love playing outdoors with the children, exploring nature and learning about the world around us. I would also love to incorporate some of my yoga and mindfulness techniques with the children in my care as I have found it so beneficial for relaxation and regulating big emotions.
I used baby sign language with my son and would be happy to use this with your baby or young toddler to support their communication and language skills, I feel it has really helped my son with his understanding and he is an excellent communicator now. I am experienced at using flashcards and visual aids to support children with their language and understanding.
I have a full and clean driving license and own a small car. I am not planning on using my car to begin with, as there are plenty of parks and places to visit locally and want to take the children on the bus or trains, as many don't get to experience this at home.
My Experience
I have 18 years experience working with young babies and young children under 12 in a range of different settings from private nurseries to school settings. I have worked with many children with Special Educational Needs over the years, in particular Autism and sensory needs. I am able to tailor learning to the child's individual needs and interests in order to help children meet their developmental milestones and make good progress over time.
I love providing learning opportunities through play and following weekly/monthly themes by following the children's interests. I find this is the best way to get to know them and also engage them in learning without them realising it. This includes lots of active learning, outdoor play regardless of the weather and teaching them to be independent and enthusiastic learners.
I have an enhanced DBS check and have just completed my Level 3 Paediatric First Aid and defibrillator training too. I have completed my food hygiene and safety training and am able to cater for allergies and any special dietary requirements. I am also looking to undertake some more training over the next few months. I will be ready to open in September 2024.

I feel really lucky to of found Clare to look after my little boy Noah. Noah has been going to Clare’s since September and has settled in so well I never thought I’d see him running into a setting - Clare is very caring, professional and has created a real home from home feeling. I love that she keeps me updated throughout the day with pictures and a diary on what he has eaten through the app she provides.
Noah is a much happier boy since he has been coming to Clare’s and is gaining so much confidence and is picking up sign language that she teaches him as he is currently non verbal.
I would recommend Clare to anyone looking for a childcare as she is just amazing with my little boy xx
