My Summary
About Me
My name is Emily Hubbard, I am 35 years old and live in Dorking with my husband, Jim, and our two young boys, Freddie and Bertie. I am a qualified primary school teacher but have decided to take on the new challenge of childminding.
I am very much an outdoors person and can often be found at the yard with my horse, walking in the Surrey countryside or chasing Freddie & Bertie around on their bikes. We are very lucky to have the Nower just a stone’s throw from our house and we can often be found there, climbing trees and jumping in puddles. I am also a keen cook and enjoy rustling up family meals for us all to enjoy, as well as a cake or some biscuits here and there!
The main setting for your child will be in our family home in Dorking. We are fortunate to have a spacious, open-plan play area/dining room/kitchen/sitting room so your child will be able to choose from a large variety of activities including small world and imaginative play, train tracks and construction, reading and puzzles, messy play and artwork (to name but a few!) whilst still being carefully supervised and with their friends. We also have a separate sitting room for quieter times. Just outside the playroom we have a back garden with a mud kitchen, sandpit and play equipment. We are also very fortunate to have some beds for growing vegetables and flowers!
As well as having a wonderful setting at home, we are located within easy reach of many local playgroups, parks, wildlife areas and National Trust places. As previously mentioned, I am very much an outdoors person so come rain or shine we will endeavour to always spend time outside, either in our garden or out and about visiting other places.
I want your child to feel happy and safe whilst they are with me, and I aim to do this by creating a warm and welcoming, home-from-home environment. I will ensure that your child feels confident and comfortable; I will help them to make new friends, and I will ensure they have fun and learn new things. I will also provide them with stimulating and challenging activities, encouraging them to push themselves out of their comfort zones.
My Experience
Although I have only just started childminding, I have 10 years’ experience teaching children. I believe the skills I have obtained from both classroom teaching and being a teaching assistant will help me plan the day to day running of being a childminder.
My Qualifications
I have attended Surrey County Council’s 3-day ‘Becoming a Registered Childminder’ course and am a fully qualified Paediatric First Aider. I have also completed Safeguarding and Prevent training.
I also hold a BA Geography degree and a PGCE teaching degree.
My Availability
I am currently full, but please message me as there may be spaces in the future.
