About Me

My name is Morgan,

I'm a professional artist and work as a creative educator (with a therapeutic element) and have over 20 years experience of working with children aged 1-18 years old. I am 41 years old and have a creative, positive, calm and fun approach to childcare.

I have worked with children and young people in different settings (in family homes, schools, colleges, youth clubs, playwork centres and after school clubs). I'm a qualified art teacher (Institute of Education, 2012), but I realised I prefer working 1:1 or with smaller groups and I have been working with children as a childminder and babysitter since 2015. I teach art at a university in Oxford 1 day per week (we have finished for the academic year and will start again in October). I am also currently finishing a job doing creative work in a children's secure unit (I am working on Fridays until 18th July) and I run the summer school for young adults in care at Bath Spa university (for a week at the end of July). I have a holiday booked in August and 2 days booked for working in a primary school on a holiday club, but these are my only work commitments leaving me free to work as a childminder/ babysitter :)

I am very creative and fun but also responsible and reliable. I have worked in settings where respectful and consistent behaviour management is essential and have found slotting into family rules and routines when working with families in the past very straightforward and effective. I have taught in mainstream and SEN schools, worked as a childminder for families in the UK, as an EAL tutor abroad, taught in a Krishnamurti school and set up creative education programmes for refugee children in Greece. I have worked in environments where I have developed very positive behaviour encouragement strategies and use humour and creativity to work around challenges. My perceptiveness and experience enables me to develop trusting professional relationships with children. I previously worked part time with WECIL, working with neuro and mobility diverse children and young adults (age 8- 16). I also worked as a private tutor with children and young adults in the care system (through Equal Education Social Enterprise) and have Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy PGDip (non clinical) through the Tavistock and Portman Trust which enhances my trauma-informed approach.

I have a current DBS (enhanced check) that covers my work in domestic and educational settings. I absolutely love working with children and will be really happy to share more information about me (and references ) if you think I'm a good fit for your family.
