Hello and thanks for taking a look at my profile. I am Claire, the founder of Little Kittens Childcare which aims to provide a home from home environment for children to learn, explore, grow and play. I live in a detached house in Long Ashton with my partner, my 14 year old son and my cats and two Cavapoos.
The bright airy playroom will be full of interesting toys, books and games for children to use. The lounge has a comfy sofa covered with soft blankets to snuggle under whilst listening to a story. There are also aquariums of tropical fish to watch and stick insects to feed and look after. The kitchen is where children have their snacks and meals, as well as carrying out craft and cooking activities.
There are bifold doors opening onto the patio and garden so children can freely move between indoors and outdoors. There is sand and water play outside, a playhouse, a raised bed where the children can plant flowers and vegetables, a small (safe) wildlife pond to watch tadpoles and fish and lots of outdoor toys and activities.
Upstairs there are separate rooms with cots for children to sleep peacefully.
I use the “ Wanderlust child nature study” curriculum and I will aim to spend time outside every day with the children. My house is near several playgrounds and a short walk away there is a woodland with a stream running through it so there are plenty of opportunities for paddling, pond dipping, nature walks and of course swinging, jumping and climbing! Further afield I take the children to wildlife parks, the aquarium, story reading sessions at the local library, play groups, museums, the harbourside and little adventures in the beautiful surrounding areas.
Term time only spaces also available.
My Experience
My most recent job was working in a Reception class of an Ofsted outstanding Primary School. Every day I welcomed and settled children into school and helped them feel safe and nurtured so they can do their best learning and exploring of the world. I am experienced in looking after children with additional needs, SEN, EAL, introverts, extroverts and everyone in between! I know exactly where children need to be in their learning journey when they start school so I am able to guide and support children and parents from day one in my setting to learn the skills to ensure a smooth transition to school. At Little Kittens my activities are guided by the children’s interests and I tailor my resources and planning for play and learning accordingly.

My Qualifications
Qualified French teacher recently working as a LSA in a Bristol Ofsted outstanding primary school in Foundation/Reception class. I am a Mum to a wonderful, kind, gentle 14 year old boy. I worked for 2 years as a Nanny for a family with a newborn and 2 year old and as an au pair for a family with 3 children when I was younger. Full paediatric first aid certificate. Clean driving licence.

Claire was a total blessing for our family. She looked after both my children with a great deal of care and compassion. They both had a very strong bond and friendship with her. They both happily ran into her house. Claire’s setting provides a great environment for both play and rest and she regularly takes the children out to explore the world together. Claire leads with a sense of curiosity and kindness. Her communication with us as parents was always impeccable. We had previous experiences of nursery settings and so fully appreciate just how amazing Claire is and feel so lucky to have had her as part of our children’s early years. We miss her!

Claire is a the most incredible childminder.. She was recommended to me with the highest regard, so my expectations were high and I can only say she has surpassed this. She has the best possible demeanor with young kids, she’s calm, smiley, approachable + positive.. Theo always returns from her full of beans, in the best mood and just so happy.
She is also great at communicating with me + I love the updates on what’s app at the end of each day surmising what they did, ate + how much they slept etc.
Every day they do a range of fun things, Claire is very clocked in to what’s happening, playgroups etc, she also takes them on fab trips eg to Aquarium. I just couldn’t ask for more. If you are lucky enough to get a space with Claire thank your lucky stars that while you are back at work, your child is in the best possible place.

We feel so fortunate to have a place at little kittens for our son. He started with Claire at 11 Months old and a year later, we are still so happy with the care. Our son settled in incredibly quickly, his confidence has soared and he is leaning so much from the setting. Claire is nurturing and child focused and has gone out of her way to accommodate the food allergies that my son has. She knows his interests and helps him to build on these to grow his knowledge and further his learning. We get pictures and updates daily and he is truly thriving and loves being there. We couldn’t have asked for more and feel so lucky to have found this setting.

Claire has been absolutely fantastic with our son, I can't even summarise our appreciation of her care. He started with Little kittens at 6 months old and she has provided so many activities and educational opportunities for him. It truly is home from home - Claire is so kind and patient with the little ones, the pets and wonderful playroom and garden make it a fantastic setting. I think our son thought he was visiting family every week, he was so settled and absolutely loved it! We have never had tears dropping him off - in fact he runs in the door! We are only leaving Claire as we are moving house - else I could happily see our son staying until school with Claire. It will be very difficult to find someone with Claires level of attentiveness, hospitality and kindness to the kids- she's one in a million!!! Truly could not have wished for a better experience.
