My Summary
About Me
Here’s a little about me, I am the youngest of 4 brothers and sisters of which there are three girls and one boy. My parents are quite youthful but maintain all the wonderful characteristics of parents, I grew up in Peckham but now live in Camberwell, which I love! Originally from Jamaica but took up permanent residence here in the UK at the tender age of five, so yes there may be little sign of that culture displayed by me as I am quite adapted to my life here in London. Previously I studied at the University of the Arts, London (Wimbledon) graduating in 2014 with a 2:1 in Costume Interpretation, which in short is a dressmaking qualification applicable in the field of costume, so I have quite an extensive creative background.
Currently, I have been trying to invest my efforts as a nanny and gain further skills and experience, as I intend to establish myself as a competent nanny who can learn from all my previous experiences to provide something exciting, relevant and unique as a childcare provider in the future.
My superpowers as a nanny; I am creative, tidy, and nurturing.
Naturally, I am a very tidy person, can't help it! so I would leave the areas used in the best possible state, cleaning up after myself as I go. I'm very organised and prefer to work according to structure so I'm well-informed. In my previous employment, I would arrive in the morning, they'd be chowing down on breakfast. I'd take this opportunity to first go to the nursery, and do a little tidying up this might include making their beds, arranging the clothes they were to wear for the day and getting out the first activity I planned for them to do. That way once they had finished eating I'd help them get dressed set them up with the task or play activity and tend to the messy breakfast table and dishes. I would do this efficiently at pace, so that the children were not left unattended for too long and so I could then begin to spend time with them one to one. For me it is crucial to show an interest in the child as an individual and to nurture that relationship and bond, in this way, I can support them to be their best. I believe in using everyday Items to create unique experiences and things that may be useful or just fun to make and play with. (These can be things from the outdoor environment: sticks, leaves, stones- recycled items: plastic bottles, cardboard boxes etc.) I'd make faux plants out of pebbles and paint- we would paint the pebbles like succulents and add soil/lots of small stones to an old plant pot and wallah! they have the plant that they made, or we could create a caterpillar using stones, with paint and some pipe cleaners. we can arrange the caterpillar any way they like, they'd decorate it as they pleased, and even count the pebbles that make up the caterpillar and so much more!
Why do I love working with children?
I want to work with children because I have something unique to offer as an individual, I believe that if you see that there is a need and you are equipped with the passion for it is your duty to invest your time on this earth in something you truly care about and that will leave a lasting impact. To work with children I know it's a worthwhile thing to do as they are so special, unique and teach us as adults so much as I hope to do them. Initially, I began my journey as a nanny in 2019 as I realised I am really good at empathising and understanding the world of a child especially the younger children as I tend to look back at my own childhood and reflect on the feelings and things that trespassed at that time in my life and the profound effect it had on my growing up and even today. For a child of today I hope to have a positive impact on them helping them be the best version of themselves and live their life to the fullest.
My Experience
Previously I was employed to nanny a two-year-old boy, the contract of employment was for the foreseeable future but it ended up being only for three months as he had acquired a full-time placement at nursery, other than this I was occasionally called upon in the event the parents needed help with their child care. I have also worked as a part-time nanny, looking after two boys aged 10 months and 2 years old at the start of my employment. This was a first experience for me but I was able to adapt and organise myself efficiently to work with this new family. Both parents worked from home and so I'd often take the boys to the local parks or to play in the garden. Alternatively, I put my mind to providing fun, free and creative indoor activities like build a fortress with cushions. Typically my working hours were 8-12 hours per week, on other occasions when they needed additional help due to their work schedules it could be significantly more. My main responsibilities were to take care of the 10-month-old, (due to the 2-year-old attending childminders). I aided his nappy training; feeding and napping schedules- engaged him in age-appropriate activities and generally kept him happy. I would also do light cooking and tidying associated with the children only: such washing their dishes, attending to their laundry and organising the children’s belongings etc. I worked with this family for only a short while due to them relocating.

We have been privileged to employ Olivia as our son’s nanny for 4 months, starting when he was 7 months until he was almost one year old (when we have moved to another city).
She has been AMAZING and we are SO sad she couldn’t come with us to the new city. She is patient, reliable, fun, energetic, loving, and hard working. She has a very good understanding of the needs and abilities of children, and she has been warm and responsive to our son’s needs and preferences, while he grew up from being a baby to a toddler.
She is resourceful and dynamic. For example, she organised every week age-specific activities for our son (sensory play, trips to the library, etc). Our son’s loved the activities that Olivia organised for him, as I could hear him laughing from upstairs while I was working from home. As we are originally from Italy, Olivia also made the effort to learn few words in Italian, to be able to communicate with our son in both Italian and English.
Being this the first experience for us with a nanny, we were quite unsure about what to expect and how close she could have been with our son, but we have nothing but positive words for Olivia, and we will never be thanking her enough for her support, while I was returning to work from maternity leave.
Some people just have a way with children, and Olivia is definitely one of those people. If you need a nanny, I would not hesitate in hiring Olivia! Instead, I strongly encourage you to jump at the opportunity to have her care for your child.
Thank you Olivia!!
