About Me
Hi, we are Nikki-Louise and Lex, the faces, and co-minders of PaLs Playhouse (P and L are our daughters initials). We live with our two young daughters aged 4 and 3 years old and our German shorthaired pointer (dog) who is 6 years old. (In Moreton/Leasowe)
PaLs Playhouse is the whole of the ground floor. Children will have use of our living room for activities and free play, our big hall way for activities and free play, we have a small cosy den under the stairs – with cushions, blankets, coloured lights, a mark making area and its own little curtain, the snug between the hall and kitchen has nappy changing facilities, and will be the quiet/sleep area where cots can be put up when needed, our kitchen will be used for messy play, cooking/baking and meal times, our garage has toilet facilities, and our garden has two entrances, one from the living room and one from the kitchen.
Our garden has 3 areas and we are currently in the process of adding a construction type area, so far we have a huge sand pit, a mud kitchen and natural logs that make 4 chairs and a table - and we have multiple tyres with different fillings, eg. Stones, bark, natural objects – all which will be safe for your child to explore - that needs to be added in. Our garden is fenced and has no access off the property.
We love to visit the beach (by car or on foot). There are 3 small parks within walking distance. We also have the River Birkett to walk along, where we often see ducks, horses and recently geese, then in warmer weather, sheep and lambs. (Not close to touch or feed). We can walk into Moreton cross and visit the community, eg, library and local shops and there are a couple of playgroups available to attend. We can go on day trips too, Chester zoo is our favourite at the moment. We also meet up with other childminders and their children.
We have full and clean driving licences with the correct insurance.
We are close to the motorway and have plenty of bus stops close by and a train station.
My Experience
Nikki left college with a diploma level 3 in Childcare and Education and worked in a private day nursery from 2008-2021. She started as a nursery practitioner and quickly became room leader. Alongside working full time, Nikki completed a 3 year BA hons degree “Learning development and Support” at John Moores University taking her to a level 6 and stepped up as the nursery’s deputy manager.
Within the nursery, she kept up to date with relevant training and worked in partnership with parents and outside agencies. Nikki worked with all ages 0-5 and over the years supported many children with additional special educational needs.
We had our first baby in 2019 (after being told for many many years, she couldn't have children) and then her second baby followed in 2020.
Lex has completed his training via childminding UK and is Ofsted registered. Lex has worked within health and social care for many years (15) working as a support worker for adults with autism and working his way up to senior management level. He holds his level 2 and 3 diploma in health and social care as well as his level 5 diploma in management and leadership. Lex has experience working with children with autism and Aspergers as well as coaching at the local rugby club.

- BA Hons – Learning, Development and Support (LaWP)
- CACHE Level 3 – Diploma in Child Care and Education
- Safeguarding and Child protection
- Full paediatric First Aid
We also continue to keep our Professional development as relevant and up to date as possible by attending training courses, online courses and doing our own research.
