About Me

Dear parents and carers,
Hi my name is Mel and I am a childcare professional, caring, loving and enthusiastic. I am based in Maidenhead 5 minutes’ walk away from Maidenhead train station, Braywick Park, Maidenhead Golf Club and Braywick Leisure Sport Centre.
My background has always been children development and education. I studied psychology for 6 years at University focusing on child development, then I worked as a Child Psychologist in nurseries and primary schools. I also worked as a nursery teacher for 6 years beforehand. I have also worked in a corporate environment as an HR manager for many years, but then decided to fully dedicate my time to my first passion, child education and development.
I am fully insured and Ofsted registered member. I have current Safeguarding and First aid training, and I follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework planning for each child’s individual learning and development needs. Our nursery has a wide range of toys, books and games, and we also enjoy creative activities like painting, colouring, cutting, drawing, gluing, messy play, singing, dancing, and cooking. Room has a wall projector for children's stories and plays nursery rhymes during our free play time. Children will have trips out at Greenfield and Braywick Park, (2min walk away), the Library (8 min walk away through the park along the lake to see the swans and ducks), nature trails in the woods and adventure park play, etc…Will attend Library and will be playing with other children to extend their social skills further within community.
I have always been a huge promoter of healthy eating and I have been interested to learn more about cooking nutritional children meals. At our nursery, children are encouraged to eat healthily, prepare their own healthy snacks and set up the children’s meals tables. Hand washing, good hygiene, good manners and politeness are encouraged.
Child development and new learning are two very important aspects of my educational approach, always done sensitively through play with loads of joy, good fun and positive atmosphere. On a daily basis we implement new learning activities in accordance with EYFS guideline. We effectively monitor children's progress from their starting points to current, which help us targeting support throughout their time in our care and it also enables us to observe children. I work with children from 3 yrs old and above. I collect children from Oldfield primary and secondary school. I support with doing home works, activities and dinner.
I work in partnership with parents and carers, ensuring the best possible care for children where all their individual needs are met. I share your child’s daily activities along with some photos on an internal app system, so you are able to see what they have done each day. We will be discussing children’s needs prior to them starting. Settling in sessions will be provided to ensure the best transition period for you and your child. We aim to establish a positive, honest and open working relationship with parents and carers and share information effectively between us.
