My Summary
Marie’s Childminding
About Me
My name is Marie Docherty, I live and work in Corsham, I have been a childminder for 24 years since January 2000, my partner Stuart Harmer he is registered with Ofsted as an assistant he was Senior Executive Chef with the RAF and dose cooking classes with my little ones, we use all his recipes he has written over his many years of catering, Freya Harmer (Stuart Harmer daughter) is also an assistant and has come from a nannying and nursery background.
My home is in Katherine Park, Corsham, my playroom is in the main house, it has its own entrance, its own cloak room, it’s a real home from home feel, lots of space for playing and calm space for reading and cuddles, I also have a fully enclosed play yard for outside crafts including sand and water play, I have local playgrounds 2 minutes walk from my home, play parks all around me and nature walks right outside my door, which I use daily. We have a group allotment which we visited weekly. We do some kind of outside activity for 2 to 4 hours everyday.
I love meeting new families and helping them with all their childminding needs, I also have families that I have cared for up to 10 years, so caring from babies to going to school.
During COVID 19, 90% of my families were key workers, so I worked throughout, my families requested a uniform to keep track of the clothes they were wearing at my home, so we have in place a simple easy to find and wear uniform, it’s red tops, navy or denim bottoms.

My daughter started with Marie when she was 7 months old & my son when he was one, and not only has Marie given them the best experiences, she has supported us as first time parents and given us so much advice and guidance in dealing with the more testing times.
The kids have the best times and they have the best friendship group ready for the next step of school.
I just couldn’t thank her enough for everything she has gone for all of us. So much more than a childminder.
Marie has been looking after our daughter since she was 10 months old. Marie is very experienced and knowledgeable about all aspects of child development and care. Marie has been fantastic at supporting us as new parents with our daughter's upbringing and development, esp. with sleep and weaning.
Marie provides a warm homely environment where our daughter is cared for as part of the family. Marie undertakes lots of varied activities with our daughter and goes well beyond what I'd expect from any childminder. Marie obviously loves looking after children and loves to nurture their development.
Marie keeps a detailed diary of our daughters daily activities and developments, including lots of lovely pictures. Our daughter often comes home with craft work she has undertaken with Marie's support.
Marie has a really well equipped play room and spacious garden. Her home and family are very welcoming and really do treat our daughter as part of the family. Marie serves home cooked meals which are varied and nutritious.
It has made it so much easier to return to work knowing that our daughter is well loved, cared for and her development nurtured within a warm, friendly, family atmosphere.
