My Summary
I Offer Friendly And Relaxed Lessons To Children And Nannies.
About Me
I am 60 years old and live in Crediton, Devon. I am an experienced online/virtual tutor and love it! I am passionate about teaching English, both as a first and second language, regardless of age or ability. I am equally happy teaching your child through homeschooling or the UK Curriculum (homework help) or your nanny to learn English if they come from abroad. I have completed my Level 3/150 hours CPD in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
I practice Mindfulness as a Buddhist and would love to share my skills with all who need to learn them in this crazy, unsettled world!
I don't own a car, which is why I do online tuition, but I am happy to help face-to-face if you are in Crediton.
I love doing all sorts of crafts, walking in the beautiful Devon countryside and going to coffee shops with my friends. I am a freelance/self-employed person and love the variety of my job. As well as tuition I enjoy dog walking and pet/house sitting while the owners are away. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask me! Thank you!
My Experience
I have had a good variety of experiences during my working life! I have always had caring roles which include being a Nurse/Carer, Legal Secretary, Salvation Army Officer, Apprenticeship Support Officer, Cleaner, Companion, Dog Walker, Pet/House sitter and, of course, an Online Tutor!
I work as a freelance as a private tutor and for various online companies including Cambly and GoStudent (who chose me as their English Tutor of the Year)! I have about 3,000 hours of online tutoring experience. I've taught students from all over the world of all ages and abilities as well as in the UK! So, I have learned to be adaptable for each individual student.
My future plan is to grow my private tuition business. I am a reliable, kind, calm and caring tutor. I am not bound by a curriculum and like to work with the students (and parents) to create an individual plan to help them achieve their learning goals and desires. However, I can tailor my lessons to the UK National curriculum if desired. I try and make my classes interesting and fun because I believe that students learn best in a relaxed environment. I sometimes sing and use crafts as part of my lessons. However, I do expect the student to be respectful and attentive in class.
Mindfulness Teaching - The Dalai Lama is quoted as saying, "If every 8-year-old in the world is taught meditation we will eliminate violence from the world within one generation". I am a Quaker and a Buddhist in the Plum Village Tradition. The founder Thich Nhat Hanh highly valued the teaching of mindfulness and meditation for children for their well-being. His book, 'Happy Teachers Change the World" is an inspiration!

My Fees
- Tutoring from £20.00 per hour
The first 30-minute lesson is free! I want you to ensure that I am a good fit for your child/nanny and we think we will work well together. After that, it is £20.00 per hour for an online one-to-one session. I am happy to do either 30-minute or 1-hour sessions. If you have more than one child I am happy to negotiate my rates. In 2024 I will be introducing small group lessons there will be a minimum of 3 students and a maximum of 5 students and the price will be reduced to £15.00 per person.
For Mindfulness Teaching I would suggest that an hour's lesson would be the best length of time.
If you have any questions, please contact me and leave me a message. I will get back to you as soon as I can! Thank you! :D
