About Me
Shelby's Childcare is an ‘Outstanding Ofsted Provider’ (inspected February 2024) and is a home based setting, providing an exciting, safe, warm and welcoming environment.
Shelby's Childcare is inspired by Montessori, Hygge and the Forest School ethos, creating a fantastic learning environment, full of opportunities for exploration and play, and using the natural environment as much as possible to do so.
Shelby's Childcare aims to promote an environment where children are caring, respectful and mindful of one another and the world around them, with Teamwork playing a key role each day. I encourage and nurture each child, paying close attention to their individual needs and interests, I help them to develop their self belief, independence and confidence.
I want each day to be a joy for every child, for them to have lots of fun and discover a natural love for nature and the planet, as well as creating a lifelong love of learning.
By the time your little one leaves, Shelby's Childcare wants to ensure that your little one is both ready and excited for their next chapter at nursery or primary school and beyond, getting them ready and well prepared for their bright and happy future.
My Experience
My name is Shelby and I run Shelby's Childcare which is a home based setting in Maidstone, Kent.
I’m a fully Ofsted registered childminder and was graded Outstanding in my recent inspection.
I live with my Fiancé George, daughter Anella (8 years old) and son Gino (4 years old).
As a mum of two, I combine my love of being a mum, with my passion for working with young children and provide an educational/learning experience of a nursery within the comfort of a home from home environment.
I want your child to feel part of the family, feeling comfortable and happy, therefore enabling them to develop every step of the way with confidence and ultimately having the best educational start to life.
My Qualifications
- Hygge - Hygge in the Early Years Accreditation - Feb 2025
- Full Paediatric First Aid training (this will be renewed every 3 years) - July 2024
- Safeguarding training - October 2023
- Childcare course - December 2020
- EYFS & Development matters reform session - I attended an EYFS & Development matters reform session to keep up to date with the latest changes to government guidance.

My Fees
- Childminding from £7.50 per hour
Hourly rate:
£7.50 p/h (day rate from 8am-5pm)
Price includes: nappies, wipes, all meals (organic and home cooked), activities and outings.
Free funding:
30 hours funded spaces available for 1 & 2 year olds.
Payments:
Fees are payable one month in advanced on the 1st of each month.
Deposit:
If registering more than a month in advance, a £100 deposit is payable to secure your child’s space. This amount will be deducted from your first month's invoice.
Payment of this deposit will ensure the place remains open for your child. If for any reason you do not go ahead on the agreed date, then the deposit is non-refundable.
Annual leave/holidays:
- I do not work weekends or Bank Holidays
- When you go on holiday, my fee is still payable in full.
- When I go on holiday, you do not have to pay me.
Absence/Sickness:
- If your child is sick, my fee is still payable in full.
- If I am sick, you do not have to pay me.

- I provide drop offs and pick ups at Dartford Bridge Community Primary School

My daughter has been with Shelby at the age of 6 months.
Shelby creates a warm and supportive environment for both of us, my daughter loves spending time with her in a homely environment.
Right from the start my daughter felt secure and safe, she gets super excited when we ring the door bell, waiting to see Shelby.
Shelby has a creative side and takes time to think about what activities to do with the children and sets up “theme areas”which is wonderful to see. My daughter has learnt so much as Shelby is extremely engaging.
Her creatively and care is exceptionally, she is one of a kind.

Shelby is genuinely incredible as a childminder. My daughter attends her home every weekday and from the moment I left my daughter in Shelby’s care I have always felt content. My daughter always comes home full of life and happy and is so comfortable with Shelby. Shelby is attentive and takes time to know the kids as individuals and caters to their specific needs. My daughter has learnt so much from vocabulary to sharing and making friends. Highly recommend Shelby’s childcare over a nursery.

Shelby is a great childminder and is so attentive to my son's needs. She provides a warm home environment and has welcomed us into her home. My son feels very comfortable with Shelby and I do not have to worry once I leave him which is every parents dream. Shelby regularly takes my son to groups, parks etc and sets out age appropriate activities which keep him engaged whilst he is learning. I would recommend her time and time again.

Shelby’s is everything I look for in childcare. Shelby is so attentive and honestly treats the children like they are her own. My daughter loves spending time with Shelby is loves all the fun activities Shelby organises.
