My Experience

Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner
As a field-based professional, I specialised in delivering personalised, 1:1 therapeutic sessions aimed at enhancing the mental health, social, and emotional well-being of children and young people. I designed different activities that address each individual's unique needs, promoting personal growth, well-being. I worked in collaboration with local authorities, schools, community organisations, and families, providing integrated support to ensure that the specific needs of each child are met. I regularly monitored and evaluated children's progress toward set goals, preparing detailed reports that reflect their achievements, challenges, and ongoing developmental needs.I have experience in enhancing emotional regulation, building self-esteem, strengthening relationships, and promoting safety awareness. I organised and lead community-based activities such as cooking sessions and outdoor pursuits like geocaching. I am deeply committed to safeguarding, always prioritising the welfare of children and young people.

University School Placements
I have graduated with a first class honours degree in primary education studies at Oxford Brookes University.
I have learnt many things on placement from the importance of positive relationships with children to use of effective language and communication. I have worked closely with the primary national curriculum to teach and respond to children’s progress effectively. I have also learnt the importance of structuring activities according to children’s needs and understanding using different resources. I ensure all children feel included and valued with opportunities to fulfil their potential and challenge their thinking. My behaviour management skills have developed over many years and have included strategies such as building trusted relationships with respect of clear boundaries. I have also learnt the importance of children’s mental health and understanding children’s emotions. I am familiar with the ‘zones of regulation’ and I believe it is an invaluable resource for supporting children in identifying their feelings and understanding why they feel like that. Everyone has a role to play in promoting welfare of children. I have a strong passion for working with all children, including those who have special educational needs and/or social, emotional mental health needs.

Nanny/ Babysitter
I have been a nanny and/or babysitter for 8 years, working with children from ages 6 months upwards. I have nannied for a variety of families from a couple of hours to whole days and weeks in the school holidays and term time whereby I planned and created different activities to do with the children.

David Lloyd Kids Assistant
With this role, came the responsibility of creating and teaching a variety of games and activities for children aged 3 to 12 to take part in. I also gained more experience in customer service with parents to ensure their children are happy and have a fun time.

Teaching Assistant
I am a qualified level 2 teaching assistant. I have achieved excellent organisation skills and have learnt the importance of prioritising tasks, in order to complete work in a timely manner. I have gained Maths and phonics training; which gave me the opportunity to run interventions developing ways to teach children with different resources to increase children’s knowledge. Other areas where I have been able to develop my skills include planning and delivering lessons and enrichment activities like cooking, art and mindfulness. I have developed my knowledge and adaptability and I have been lucky enough to attend lots of school trips from farm outings to residential activities such as a water sports centre. Through these, I have acquired skills to help me work effectively with others.

Nursery Practitioner
I had experience in the baby room to kindergarten (6 months- 4 years), supporting children needs and creating activities for children to explore and develop.

SEND Children's Summer Camp
I volunteered for several weeks during the summer holidays to work with disabled children. Through doing this, I also learned some sign language to help communicate with children with various special needs.
