About Me
I am a 42 year old professional starting maternity leave with a busy family life. We are expecting our second child early April and I’m looking for a ‘mother’s help’ nanny/housekeeper to support our family as my partner has a very demanding job and is often away with work and I don’t want to have to rely on grandparents too much. We have a lovely, good natured 4 year old boy who is in school full time and has lots of after school activities and my main concerns with our new arrival is the morning school routine/school run with a new born in tow and trying to maintain some kind of routine and avoid chaos! If that’s at all possible with a new baby?!?!?
We are mainly looking for someone local to us in L24 for practical help around the home/logistics of the school run to allow me to focus on the baby/our little boy but someone with formal childcare experience/qualifications would be a bonus should we ever need support in that area with babysitting.
Formal childcare experience isn’t a deal breaker as I see it as more of a support role in that sense. To be honest I’m full of mum guilt at the moment and in an ideal world I’d want to do it all myself and continue to do the school run/take the baby along but being realistic I know that I will need help when sleep deprivation is factored in.
Given issues of inconsistency/last minute cancellations etc we have had previously we kind of pictured someone who doesn’t have any immediate carer responsibilities for their own children/Grandchildren/family as we know too well that having dependants can mean things generally don’t go to plan and consistency/reliability of support is really important to us as a busy family.
My Requirements
My main concern for when the baby arrives is the morning routine/school run so with that in mind I was thinking core working hours would likely be 7.30-11.30 Monday-Friday (20 hours per week). We have a cleaner who will continue to do weekly deep cleans it’s more the day to day stuff we need help with. In terms of duties I’ve pulled together the following wish list:
1. Occasional support (around twice a week) with the school run for our little boy (need to leave house at 7.55 school is a 20-25 min drive away). Grandparents sometimes take him and I’d like to take him occasionally so it wouldn’t be every day and a later start could be agreed if we get a school run schedule established.
2.Washing/ironing/putting away clothes
3.Dishwasher emptying
4.General tidying/making beds clearing up after morning routine
5.Daily light cleaning/tidying. I follow The Organised Mum Method of cleaning (TOMM) so there’s a bit of a rota in place already that I’d like to keep up
6.Light cooking/food preparation to help with evening meal
7.Occasional grocery Shopping/collecting food orders
8.Ongoing household organisation especially the dreaded playroom
9.Dry cleaning / clothes alteration collection etc
10.General household organisation (fridge rotation/cupboards etc)
11. Light gardening/garden maintenance (if able)
