About me!
I love the outdoors (when the weather is nice ?) animals and getting crafty with little ones. I love being able to support and nurture children as they develop in their skills and confidence whilst they discover their individual personality. I firmly believe each child develops at a rate that is perfect for them and I aim to ensure my setting supports them on their journey. I spent 16 years teaching English in SEND schools and Alternative provisions, with hands on experience supporting behavioural and attachment needs.
My setting
I have a large, secure outdoor space enriched with areas of interest for children, a comfy playroom with our reading corner and our kitchen area. There are areas and activities that remain the same to help children gain confidence with familiarity as well as activities and resources that change regularly to help maintain engagement and help children develop. I employ safe sleeping methods, each child has their own comfy sleep mat and bedding which they help tidy up. I support teeth cleaning by routinely encouraging children to focus on the method following their lunch.
Emotional development
I have a strong belief in the importance of developing emotionally intelligent children and understand the first three years are the foundations are the rest of your child's life. I encourage children to explore and identify emotions, even difficult ones. Children feel safe in my setting, both physically and emotionally, due to a culture of listening as well as clear boundaries.
My Experience
I have spent a majority of my teaching career teaching English in special or alternative schools. I believe each child should be treated with kindness and respect and celebrated for the individual they are.
