About Me

Hi there!

My name is Lara, and I am a well-experienced nanny currently seeking work in the Edinburgh area, starting as soon as possible!

I'm very creative, which is reflected in my approach to nannying. I love to create, write, do crafts, draw, watch films, cook, bake and more! I have a wide range of experience (more details are provided in the experience section below), which enables me to adapt quickly to the individual needs of different age groups and personality types.

Education-wise, I have a BA in English with Creative Writing and a CertHE in Professional Acting from an accredited drama school. I am also starting my postgraduate study in Philosophy at the University of Edinburgh in September. I can, therefore, offer support on a more formal educational level, such as tutoring. I completed my secondary education at an IB school, so I can provide IB-focused support as well. I’m also half Danish and half American, meaning I speak both English and Danish. I am, however, more proficient in English because I’ve grown up and studied in international communities!

I am DBS checked and COVID vaccinated. I was vaccinated in Denmark.

If you have any questions about me, my approach or my experience, please don't hesitate to get in contact! I look forward to meeting you :))

My Experience

My experience is wide-ranging and stretches across babysitting, full- and part-time nannying, and working with children in more formal educational settings. I have worked with children from ages 9 months to 15 years, so I am well-experienced in the different needs and interests that suit different ages. In the past, I have supported families with:

* Before-school support
* Afternoon pick-up
* After-school and evening support
* Homework support (spelling, comprehension, English language and literature, creative writing, etc.)
* Tutoring
* Cooking dinner
* Bedtime
* Pet care
* Teaching assistance

I get along with kids really well. I find that we share a similar silliness and an inquisitive approach to life! My experience allows me to balance this playfulness with a well-structured approach, ensuring that the kids I care for have fun in a safe environment. It’s also important to me that I help support the entire family, for example, tidying at the end of the day so parents can come home to a more relaxed environment.

My Qualifications

Copenhagen International School:

I worked at the Copenhagen International School Summer School during the summers of 2014, 2015, and 2016. I was an assistant teacher for various programmes. I supported the drama, dance, creative writing, arts, and EAL programmes. I also assisted with the early-years programmes for kids ages 3-7. My role included in-class support in a group setting and 1-on-1. I also supported the teachers with field trips, lesson planning, administrative work, post-class tidying, lunch duty, playground duty, and larger projects, such as a giant mural!

Full-time nanny:

During my gap year, I worked as a live-in nanny in a small town outside Copenhagen. I provided full-time support for a family of four with two boys, ages 4 and 7. My responsibilities included morning, pick-up, after-school and evening support. They also included (but weren’t limited to) making lunch and dinner, bedtime, playtime, weekend support, illness support, and more!

Babysitting/Nannying:

Throughout my undergraduate studies, I nannied for a family of four with two kids, a boy aged 10 and a girl aged 12/13. My responsibilities included pick-up, after-school and evening support. They also included (but weren’t limited to) making dinner, bedtime and illness support. I even helped the kids make a costume version of the ghost of Banquo for World Book Day!

I have lived in Edinburgh for the last year and a half, and have also been nannying throughout that time.

My Availability

Currently, I have completely flexible availability, but will need to find a family that can work with my university schedule come September. I am hoping to find a family that needs regularly support throughout the week.
