My Experience

Whilst working at a school, I followed the Read, Write, Inc phonics teaching method. This is an inclusive literacy program and it was clear that it contributed to raising the schools Literacy standard. The school I worked at was a three form entry school with up to 30 children in each class which meant I assessed around 90 children in Year 1 as well as Year 2. Assessing each child every term helped me group children according to their ability. I made sure that my lessons were structured with purpose, pace and passion allowing pupils to progress through the units at an accelerated rate. I would also put a timetable together for ‘ditty books’ which are short story books based on the sound the children have learnt in the week. This then helped the children effortlessly read.Not only did I teach ability groups, I also worked in small focused groups with children who needed extra support. Teachers from Key stage one would give me a list of children each term that I would then follow to work closely with them.I have also carried out two phonics screening checks with the whole of year one and also with the children who were on a retake, therefore I am experienced in how to carry the test out ensuring all measures are in place and guidelines are followed.

Qualified in phonics as I have been trained at my setting and by PROTOCOL education.

Since the resources I use are at a high standard and because of my experience I feel my fee is a great value for money considering I have only just taken upon tutoring and that I can come to you. My fees start from £15 but depending on where you are located the rate will go up. I also offer packages.
