About Me
Hello! My name is Cerys, and I am a 37-year-old mother to a wonderful 14-month-old boy. I bring over 10 years of teaching experience, primarily working with primary school children, and have recently decided to transition to a more personal and nurturing role as a nanny.
With a background in education and a Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Education (PGCE), I am well-versed in child development and understand the importance of creating a safe, stimulating, and engaging environment. My teaching experience has equipped me with the ability to plan creative, age-appropriate activities that foster learning, growth, and independence.
Since becoming a mother, I’ve developed a deeper appreciation for hands-on childcare and the joys of nurturing a child’s development on a personal level. While I may not have formal nanny experience, my extensive teaching background, coupled with my own experience as a mum, provides me with a unique skill set to care for children in a warm, attentive, and professional manner.
I am seeking a part-time nanny role with a lovely family, ideally where I can bring my son along to foster social interaction and play.
In my free time, I enjoy keeping active by playing tennis and exploring the Surrey countryside. I also have a love for animals, sports, and traveling, which often inspires fun, engaging activities for little ones.
My Experience
I have worked in education for approximately 10 years, initially teaching English as a foreign language to young learners at an international school in Eastbourne. In addition to teaching, I participated in the school’s social activity programme and led excursions to renowned landmarks and attractions across the UK.
Following this, I returned to university to complete a PGCE in Primary Education. My teaching journey then took me to an inner-city school in Birmingham, where I taught a Year 3 class, and subsequently to Surrey, where I spent two years teaching Year 4. In 2019, I joined an independent school in Surbiton, teaching Year 3 and adopting the mastery approach to education. After a brief period teaching online, I returned to the classroom to work with a Year 5 class.
These experiences have equipped me with a wealth of knowledge and skills across various year groups, enabling me to employ a range of strategies to support pupils in their learning.
Raising my son over the past 14 months has been an incredibly rewarding experience, sparking a deep passion for childcare that I am excited to pursue in the future.
