About Me

I'm an expectant first-time mum (baby due Aug '23) and military wife (since Oct '22!). I teach at Oxford Brookes University and have only recently moved to Gosport (Jan '23) as my husband is in the Navy. Still getting to grips with the area and with being a Navy wife. We have a dog (and my in-laws have 2) so the baby would be used to animals, though hopefully not obsessed with them.

I am planning on returning to work in June 2024, when the baby would be ~10 months old. These would be basic hours to start with as I can work from home over the summer, which would also give us time to build up the hours and get the little one settled.

We would need an extended day on a Tuesday when the semester restarts in September 2024. On Tuesdays, I think I will be commuting to Oxford to deliver in-person teaching which finishes at 16:00. This means I'd need an earlier drop-off and later pick-up on this day. These longer days would be semester time only (which is normally the winter and spring terms), though I know we might have to pay for it year-round depending on the childminder and individual situations. Or maybe it can be balanced with a shorter day on a different weekday. Happy to be flexible on how this works out.

We're a military family so I'm trying to make all the plans as if my husband isn't available. I also don't have much family nearby (in-laws are an hour away and my dad is 2 1/2 hours away) so really making plans as if it's just me.
