Hi! My name is Heidi, and thanks for taking a look at my profile :)
I live in the Basford area of Nottingham, but will happily travel anywhere within Nottinghamshire for you. I have nine years of experience in providing childcare, I am 27 and have just finished my final year of uni, studying Education. I will be graduating soon and then starting my PGCE course next year, but in the meantime, I want to provide a nannying service.
I love working with children, they keep me young at heart and they just make the world a happier place to be in! I have dipped in and out of different childcare roles since I qualified in 2013, but I always seem to gravitate back to it.
I live with my two fur babies (cats) Toulouse and Berlioz, who are Maine coons, so they take up a big chunk of my time (and heart). Other than that, I will spend my spare time with my friends and family or just reading a good book.
My Experience
University Placement – The Iona School, 2022
I worked in a Waldorf / Steiner school to support my university course. I worked in the Kindergarten classroom, for children aged 3-7; I gained a huge wealth of experience working in an alternative setting to mainstream schooling.
Nanny – Mark Warner, 2017 – 2018
I worked in hotels for a company that provided childcare for families while they were on holiday; I worked in Greece, France, and Italy. My main role was to provide activities to entertain children aged anywhere between 0-16. I worked for two summer seasons and a winter season in a ski resort.
The company offered families wrap-around care, so I would work evening shifts with other nannies while the children's parents went out for an evening meal. I worked with a large team of people with varying cultures and languages during my time in this role, so developed my customer service and communication skills to provide families with the best possible holiday.
Play Support Worker – Play for Disabled Children Services, 2016 – 2017
Caring for children and young people with varying additional needs as respite care during school holidays; I mainly worked 1-1 with a nine-year-old boy with autism who was also nonverbal. I worked effectively within a team here, as teamwork made all the difference in this role. I supported other members of staff to administer medication, provide gastromy feeds, and operate a hoist for personal care. I gained so much experience here and it was so rewarding.
Supply Teaching Assistant – Monarch Education 2015 – 2016
Worked in a multitude of mainstream primary schools, to support children's development to meet the national curriculum standards. Had to support class teachers and other members of the staff on a day-to-day basis. Also having to quickly understand the teacher’s learning activities and giving feedback on the outcomes.
Assistant Manager – Heymann Out of School Club, 2013 – 2017
Responsible for caring for children aged 3-11, sometimes in charge of over 100 children and leading other members of staff. Provided play activities during the after-school club hours in a primary school; such as baking, craft activities, and sports games.
