My Summary

My Experience

I completed my Duke of Edinburgh bronze award in year 11, which was a fantastic experience. For my voluntary section I worked in the local charity shop for six months in a customer facing role. I enjoyed meeting new people and the social interaction this brought; learning to engage with a variety of personalities, many with very different life experiences to me. It also taught me the values of punctuality, patience and efficiency.

I also worked for an 11+ tutoring business; Head Start 11+ Tuition, for 12 months. I enjoyed facilitating the progress of students in every session, I significantly developed my communication skills and patience, as well as my ability to respond to feedback from the head tutor. We witnessed a pass rate twice the national average across all the groups we taught.

For three years I regularly led childrens Kung Fu classes and on occasion adult classes. I myself have seven years of experience as a Kung Fu student and teaching classes of sometimes upwards of 20 students came naturally to me, drawing on the experience I have interacting with two younger siblings. During this time I would carefully observe students, analysing performance and weaknesses, on which to base constructive criticism and improve their technique.

Finally, I completed both Level 2 and 3 Sports Leaders qualifications. This involved delivering group sessions designed around improving a particular skill to classmates at Level 2 and groups of primary school children at Level 3. All of my experiences have given me understanding of the responsibility involved with working with children entrusted to my care, which is a responsibility I take very seriously. I am aware of safeguarding issues and the need to pass any concerns to the appropriate people.

I have been a carer for three months, and this has greatly improved all of my skills, ranging from calmness and composure, to unfailing punctuality, to experience with different groups and types of people. I have matured greatly under this role and feel much more confident to handle myself, tasks and problems.

My Availability

For private tutoring I find sessions after school and late morning on weekends are the most well received. I am most available for babysitting on evenings except Friday and Saturday, as well as daytime on all days of the week.

Being a university student I have flexible timings and can be negotiated easily.
