About Me
My name is Katy I am a mum of two, a son aged 11 and a daughter aged 8, along with a fantastic husband and our pets(1 dog, 3 cats, and 1 rabbit). I have worked in schools and nurseries with a wide range of ages and there is nothing I love more than seeing a child learn something new. I especially enjoy science and being able to create messy and fun experiments. I like to create messy activities that are edible and taste safe for the little ones.
I have a full clean driving license and a comfortable 7-seater car with a variety of car seats available. I currently live in an end terraced house in the WV11 area of Wolverhampton, with a playroom full of different resources to encourage child-led play that's easily accessible for children. My home has a garden with various toys and playhouses.
My Experience
I have been training and working in child care and education since leaving school. Firstly as a teaching assistant then moving on to more childcare roles within nurseries. Through my studying of childcare learning and development, I specialized in the infant age group. I have worked in classes of children from early as 4 months up to 11 years. I have also completed a primary education degree(Very useful for homework help).
I chose to become a childminder as it allowed me to carry on the career that I have built and love, with being able to spend time with my own children.
In my home childcare, I aim to provide children with an environment where they can grow and learn in a way that is fun and engaging for them. I fully endorse children's natural curiosity and their ability to explore their own worlds. I aim to provide a free-flow environment where children can access the resources they choose. To explore outside regardless of weather(Nothing better than jumping in a muddy puddle) and to be able to enjoy days out to places they haven't been before to encourage their curiosity further. I am a firm believer in child independence and providing them with safe ways for developing their personal independence.
My family has a love for animals as shown by the many pets we have. I see them as a benefit to my childcare setting as having animals is a great way to help children to develop their social skills and build self-esteem.
Meals and snacks are provided throughout the day.

My Availability
I aim to be flexible as I understand that not everyone works 9-5, so although I open at 7 am and work till 6pm I can make other arrangements where needed.
Available for school holidays where we spend our days out and about we often visits zoos, parks, national trust and soft plays.
