About Me
As a qualified teacher and experienced tutor, I have endeavoured to provide an education that will compliment a child’s in-school learning. By working closely with a child’s parent/carer, I can provide tools and education that goes beyond my sessions.
No matter what your child’s attainment levels may be, my metacognitive approach will give them the tools to take control of their learning. My training goes beyond the mathematical processes needed to answer questions, helping me to nurture a creative approach and deepen understanding. By using concrete, pictorial, and abstract approaches to teaching ideas, I build a foundation that pupils can draw upon in a variety of ways. Using a variety of resources at my disposal, enables me to find the approaches that work best for each child, and challenges them to think about concepts in a variety of ways.
My clearest memories from primary school, are of the extra tutoring sessions I received. These were the highlight of my week and enabled me to move ahead of where I would otherwise have been. It was during my mathematics A-Level that I decided that I would love to teach maths to the next generations, and so began my journey into teaching and tutoring. What began as tutoring my brother, has now expanded to tutoring children all over the country.
When I’ve asked pupils what the favourite part of their sessions with me have been, they normally start by saying the terrible jokes and occasional maths games. But they have also said:

“It's sort of funner than usual maths”
“It's learning in a fun way”

This is fun maths, instead of boring”

My Experience
I attended Eton College as a pupil and then trained as a teacher at Durham University. Since then I have worked as both a class teacher and, more recently, as a tutor for White Rose Maths. I also followed my passion for innovative education by studying a Masters in Educational Research in order to learn more about how we can move education forward.
