My Summary

My Experience

Once qualified I worked as a nanny for 6 years. Followed by a year working in Kenya as a Kindergarten teacher.
I returned to England and stayed at home caring for my own 4 children until my youngest started school.
I then trained as a Foster Carer and worked for the following 14 years caring for new born babies through to young teens, until all my children flew the nest.
As my life changed and my fostering career came to a close, I worked as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant for a little girl with quadriplegia cerebral palsy. I spent an incredible 2.5 years working with her, enjoying the challenge of teaching a non verbal child to read.
My life then took on a new path. My partner and I moved to Little Walden. I have been working part time as a Nursery Nurse at a local nursery since we arrived 6 months ago.

My Qualifications

N.N.E.B. (NATIONAL NURSERY EXAMINATION BOARD)
September 1984 to July 1986

A two year course looking at the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of children aged 0-7 years

BTEC LEVEL 4 EXPERT PRACTICE WORKING WITH TRAUMATISED CHILDREN
September 2011 to October 2012

This online course included the following core units:
• Attachment, trauma and resilience
• Life story work
• Preparing for the transition to adult life
• Working with children and young people affected by parental issues
• Working with disabled and traumatized children and young people
