My Summary
About Me
Hello! My name is Lily, From a young age I have been involved with the learning and development of my younger siblings and family members, I was passionate towards caring and supporting those individuals and felt a sense of achievement when being able to offer my nurturing qualities.
Undertaking a GCSE in child development was the foundation for my learning and passion towards early years education, studying the physical, intellectual, social and emotional development of young children from birth to five years.
On completion of secondary school, I attended college to study a level 2 diploma in Health and social care, this course was a stepping stone in supporting me to explore the next steps in my career and education. Throughout the duration of the course, I developed knowledge of Health and social care and was introduced to core skills such as problem solving, working responsibly, teamwork and managing personal learning and development. I attended placement at a private day Nursery in Chester one day a week for several months, alongside attending college. This practical experience further sparked my passion and desire towards a career within the early years sector.
On completion of placement, I was fortunate to be offered the opportunity to complete a level 3 Early years education apprenticeship within the setting. ( A level equivalent)
During my time as a level 3 apprentice, I was introduced to many new responsibilities which developed my knowledge, confidence and skills. I built positive professional relationships with the children and families and was highly involved in ensuring all children's learning and developmental needs were met, following the early years foundation stage. I was able to showcase my creativity when providing the children with safe, stimulating and engaging activities. My role as a key person gave me special responsibilities for supporting a specific group of children further enabling building of positive and trusting relationships. I also completed regular training courses such as safeguarding, child protection, health and safety and first aid. Attending staff meetings extended knowledge on the importance of policies and procedures, e.g. to ensure all children are protected, knowing the correct ways to report and respond to concerns.
Throughout my time at the Nursery, it became apparent that my role would involve supporting a vulnerable child with special educational needs, I worked closely alongside the special educational needs coordinator and the child's family to build a professional bond with the child allowing him to feel secure and cared for. I later took on the role as this child's 1:1 as well as providing support, education and guidance to the other children within our setting. I was able to enhance my communication skills, understanding the importance of, through multi-agency working i.e., speech and language therapists and educational psychologists. It is vital that professionals work together to gain a full understanding of the child's situation and to offer the appropriate care and support. I have a recent enhanced DBS and all qualification certificates. I have worked in nursery’s for 6 years. Working closely with children from Birth to five.
I have done lots of babysitting with a range of ages over the years m.
I am a creative, bubbly and positive individual! I love spending time outdoors and going on long walks with my dogs!
I am currently available for nannying part time/full time Monday, Tuesday, Wednesdays and Fridays!
