My Summary
Giggles Childminding By Amy.
About Me
I am a friendly, reliable, trustworthy, creative, caring individual with a good sense of humour with over 20 years experience in childcare-including private Nurseries and school settings. I love working with children everyday , no two days are ever the same! I believe in child led play with some adult led learning alongside this. My ethos behind childminding is learning through play. I believe children engage best when its hand -on and exciting. In a format that they know best-play! I have now been registered with Ofsted but Ofsted will not do a final written report until Ofsted come back to my setting and grade my inspection whilst children are present. I live with my husband and two children who are 14 and 18. My eldest is at university studying marine biology. I offer 2 and 3 year old funded places, this is easy to apply for and I can help you with this if needed.
My Experience
I have worked in nurseries and school settings for over twenty years. During this time I have worked with children aged from babies all the way up to age 11. I have been very lucky to to work with SEN children over the past ten years, this has given me extensive experience in this area. I live with my husband and my two children aged fourteen and eighteen. (Eldest is now at Uni ) I am now doing childminding as I now feel this is the best way for myself to spend quality time with children and looking forward to having lots of fun caring for children. My ethos behind childminding is learning through play, I believe children learn best through play as it is a very fun way to get children to learn.
Whilst in my care children will have lots of fun learning opportunities such as baking, lots of outdoor play, going on walks, going to the park, visiting local shops, playgroups, creative activities, music and dance, games, messy play and I believe children learn best when using own interests-so this is also a way I encourage children to learn. I really enjoy using sensory play with children as this is a way that helps to engage all children in learning- having good old fun and getting messy.
My house has a conservatory attached which I have converted into a children's playroom. I have an enclosed large garden. My property has a large garage attached that has given me the space to store toys , equipment so that I can rotate with child's interests and topic's.
I provide all meals and can cater for allergies, preferences and beliefs .
Anything else you wish to know just send me a message and I am more then willing to try and help. Ofsted visited my house in the summer (2024) but because I had no children in my care then, I did not get a report . Ofsted
Came out then to register myself and make sure everything was in place to be registered as a childminder. Ofsted will visit again , whilst I have children in my care and then a report will be written then.

Where to start? If you want to see your child not only grow, but overall become a happier child, Amy is a must! My toddler was struggling with a number of different targets and seemingly behind their peers but once they started to get the experience of, and attention from Amy, instead of just being a number in a room, they've progressed so much! Their speech, numbers, reading and happiness have all improved tenfold! Each day is different for them and boy do I know it! As the drive home each day is filled with nothing but happy stories and tales! Core memories are definitely being made! ‘Giggles’ really is the only place for us!
I've recently moved to Newcastle and I've gone from full time mum to full time working mum and I'm not sure we could have got through it if I had not had found Amy. I was so uneasy and anxious with the nursery visits and I just feel like they don't get the attention they need for the age they are at a nursery. Luckily I found Amy and I now have absolutely no worries. Not a single one and I can work every day with absolute peace of mind knowing that not only is my toddler safe she's having the best time ever. My daughter loves going to Amy's, she puts in so much effort with her and I'm so grateful. The other children Amy has are all incredible sweet and caring which I love. My daughter has grown so much since starting with Amy and it's been the best outcome I could ask for.
Amy has such a great rapport with children. My SEN daughter can be unsure about new people and new situations but Amy instantly made her feel at ease. Amy helped my daughter in the short time we managed to spend together but also helped me understand ways in which I could help outside the childcare setting. Can't recommend enough!
Amy is a brilliant childminder and I couldn’t imagine my little girl going anywhere else. She started when she was only 18months and is now nearly 4. She loves going to Amy’s and has started asking for her.
The first time we met Amy, I knew she was going to be amazing. She is very passionate and has a caring attitude towards her job.
When Amy first started to look after our daughter it was difficult as she didn’t like change and was later diagnosed with Autism, Amy took this in her stride and researched how to bring on her development and she now has such a strong bond with her. Amy would let our daughter bring home books to read with her older brother at home, her favourite being ‘the tiger that came to tea’.
We are so happy and very grateful to be part of her little family
Thank you again Amy
