About Me

I have lived in Hagley nearly all my life and have two (grown up) children of my own. As well as being a childminder for five years now, I have twenty years’ experience of working with children as a teacher, fourteen of which are in Early Years. In my setting I employ two assistants who job-share, both of whom are experienced and qualified Early Years practitioners.
Just like most childcare experts, I am extremely passionate and committed to my job. It is my firm belief that nurturing children and developing good social and emotional skills underpins all areas of development whilst empowering them to be confident learners. I take pride in nurturing and guiding children to enable them to have strong foundations on which to build. Encouraging children to develop an enquiring mind is a fundamental part of my role.
I began my career as a KS1/Early Years teacher but soon found my heart lies in Early Years. I am passionate about Early Years and love my job, it can be noisy, challenging and unpredictable, and of course, messy, but I believe that these formative years are the most exciting and important years of a child’s life. A child’s experiences in their early years will form the foundations on which they build their future, which is why it is so important to get it right.
I have always had strong relationships with the children in my care. As a childminder I believe this bond has even more importance for both the child and for their parent to know that they are happy and secure with someone they can trust. Sharing in the children’s successes and watching them flourish and grow is a truly precious and rewarding experience. Working in Early Years is a privilege.
