My Experience
Hello families,
My name is Chloe, I'm 27 years old.
I would say I am an enthusiastic, bubbly and fun loving individual who has a passion for working with children.
Supporting children with Autism:
I previously spent 5 years working in a school specialised in supporting children with Auistm.
- support the students with fine motor skills, helping and support them while eating and getting changed.
- coordinating/ working with the occupational therapist to help support and strengthen their skills related to everyday life e.g. improving fine motor skills for changing clothes, opening objects, hand writing etc...
- working with speech and Language therapist to support with a range of communication e.g. communicative tablets, PECS, Language boards and Makaton.
-supporting the students with pastoral needs, changing nappy's, getting changed and showered.
- taking individual students or groups and supporting them with their education.
Summer jobs:
Living with a family in Kent for 3 weeks. Supporting 2 boys brothers aged 6 and 9.
The 9 year old had autism, PDA and ADHD.
I helped meal prep but was mainly responsible on taking the boys to summer activties.
Taking the boys out to summer activties I arranged eg. Canoeing, swimming, roller skating, bowling etc...
Summer camp:
Supporting children with a wide range of needs, taking them out for the day and encouraging them in different trip and activity's.
Private job:
I worked privately supporting a young boy aged 5 who had autism for one year.
I worked towards supporting his emotional regulation and communication through play. Using a range of tools to support his communication e.g. language boards, PECS and Makaton.
Respite work:
- working as respite support on the weekends. Supporting a young boy who had autism and was non verbal. We spent the weekends exploring his favourite interest, such as visiting museums, while working on his independence and life skills.
