About Me

I'm a twenty-five-year-old writer living in London. Last summer I graduated with a first-class degree in Law from the University of Oxford (winning faculty prizes for best dissertation in my cohort, and top performance in Moral and Political Philosophy). Since then, alongside tutoring, I have been working for Daunt Books. In addition to general bookselling responsibilities, I have programmed and hosted author talks (which has required liaising with agents and publishers), and run the shop's 'subscription service' (selecting books for customers of all ages based on their self-described tastes). Over the past few years I have worked at a literary festival, as an editor, and interned at two publishing houses. I am also an alumnus of Curtis Brown Creative's 'Writing Your Novel' course.

My Experience

I have tutored English to children of all ages in different capacities for a number of years: creative writing, reading comprehension, and essay-writing; focusing on general improvement or improving exam performance (11+, 13+, GCSE, and Scottish National 5 and Higher in particular); as a second language and to native speakers. I'm happy to offer tuition online or in-person in London.

Through my work over the past few years my engagement with literature has been multi-faceted, and this is something I love passing on to my students. I always try to go far beyond exam syllabuses, using texts from all sorts of places, encouraging students to speak up, develop strong opinions, and see daily life as a source of inspiration (both for their own writing, and for unpicking the writing of others, which I approach as a creative act in its own right).

My Qualifications

University of Oxford BA in Law - 2023 (first class, with faculty prizes for best dissertation and best performance in Moral and Political Philosophy)
