My Summary
About Me
• I have enjoyed working in childcare for over 11 years in various settings. I have supported children to learn through play and to experience a broad range of indoor and outdoor activities. I especially like exploring ways to help children to express their creativity, to develop focus and concentration, fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination.
• When babysitting on an ad hoc basis, I provide personal support to families and children in their own home environment, this includes interacting with children, and their older siblings. Supporting meal times, bath and bedtime routines, also organising the child’s room and keeping all areas used tidy.
• I am able to evaluate a situation and respond effectively and reflectively. I value effective communication, and collaborative working with parents, which I believe are essential components to the learning and development of the child.
• With a full driving license and my own vehicle, I am able to travel easily.
• I am family oriented and enjoy spending time with family and friends, arranging fun days out, travel and adventure and making memories. I am organised and enjoy cooking from scratch.
My Experience
WORK HISTORY:
• 2018 – Present; Childminding
Creating a home from home environment, and within a smaller setting, I had greater opportunity to provide fun, educational experiences, which prepared each child for school. My role required effective organisation and coordination, including school pick-ups, planning age and stage appropriate indoor and outdoor activities/day trips. Working in partnership with the parents in order to guide and raise the child together.
• 2018 – 2018; Woodberry Day Nursery N21
Key Worker for 14 children aged 2 to 4 years. I maintained up to date observations and reports and contributed to the planning of activities, ensuring the health and safety needs of all children were safeguarded.
• 2015 – 2018; Little Miracles Day Nursery E4
Key Worker for ten children. I worked flexibly, predominately in preschool and also in the baby room where I developed skills on how to care for and meet the needs of babies and toddlers. I gained a variety of skills; planning and supervising activities and working to provide a safe and supportive environment.
• 2014 – 2015; The Pierhead Preparatory Montessori School E1W
As a Key Worker for six children, aged between 2 and 4 years, I kept up to date personal development records; sharing this information with their parents and other staff members. I enjoyed helping the children learn through planned play experiences and supervising and supporting their care routines. I supported Reception year pupils with literacy and numeracy.
• 2013 – 2014; Platform One Nursery N21
I had undertaken over 200 hours’ work experience at this nursery, which established my desire to work with young children.
