About Me

Thank for for reading my introduction

It can be ask to ask, accept and receive help all at once. Then combined with the task of finding the right tutor for you or your child. Asking yourself "Shall I book a free trial? Does this feel right for me?"

You may be noticing that your child’s grades are declining, along with their appetite for learning, their teachers, or school in general. These are all common experiences in development, and pressure to achieve.

It is more often than not, that ability is independent in some circumstances. The student doesn’t possess the study skills to (a)efficiently take in knowledge, (b) formulate a strategy to practice/keep it in working memory long enough to be (c)converted into long-term memory, and then perform well when (d) examined on that knowledge.

But before you even try to help with a,b,c or d!
It’s so important to explain to students why this knowledge is 1) important and 2) is being taught. The question from a student on a random Friday at 2pm of "Why do we have to learn this?" May be perceived as coming from a eager teenager who can’t wait to get home, but it is a very important question to both ask and answer.

My Experience

After taking the decision to retrain as a counsellor after studying at medical school, it highlighted the importance of the relationship between mental health and academic performance.

It doesn’t matter if you’re working towards a grade 1 or a grade 9 in GCSE, or really in any other academic distribution, we all feel the pressure to achieve in order to have the freedom to choose what we want to do in life, and rightfully so, this is different for everybody.
At STEMology we don’t put UCAS points and grades before providing our students with stability, empathy and respect. We all have to start from somewhere, and most of the time it matters more that you’ve started; than what position you’ve started from.

We love being a part of our students journey to success, whatever that looks like for them.
