About Me
Hi I'm Jane, Iām an Ofsted registered childminder with spaces available from April 2025, located in the Harrowgate Hill area of Darlington. I have 10+ years experience working with young children and the EYFS, including seven years working overseas as a nanny and as a teacher in an international pre-school in Istanbul, Turkey.
My Experience
I began my childcare career working in a private day nursery in Darlington in 2003 after gaining my Diploma in Childcare and Education. I worked with under 2s for two years and was then promoted to room leader. In 2006 I began a new adventure in Izmir, Turkey where I worked for a family with three young children. In 2008 I moved to Istanbul where I began working for a very affluent family with their two children aged 5 and 6, teaching them English and providing educational opportunities for them to learn and grow. I also accompanied the family when travelling.
In 2012 I began working in an International pre-school in Istanbul. I taught 3-4 year olds during my time there, following the Early Years Foundation Stage with an inquiry and play based pedagogical approach. I then moved back to England with my daughter and in 2014 I set up as a childminder for a year while I was studying an access course and then I started full time at university. I went on to gain a BSc degree in Sociology, a MSc degree in Social Research Methods and I am currently finishing my PhD. As I am now coming to the end of my studies I have decided to re-register as a childminder as I enjoy working with early years and am passionate about helping children build the necessary skills to become happy, confident and independent little people.
