About Me
It was through my Mum’s own work that I got introduced to the world of caring for children. She was a child minder, now working in a primary school. Seeing how happy it made her made me want to pursue some kind of work with children too and, ever since, I’ve loved it. Being a part of a child’s development is so important to me and I honour the connections and relationships I share with those children. The most rewarding thing about it is making them as happy, safe and healthy as they can be.
My Experience
I’ve been babysitting my younger sister from the day she was born and played a huge role in her development as she grew older. From settling her into bed, feeding her, potty training, changing nappies, playing with her and teaching her to walk and talk. Now, at five years old, I love baking cupcakes with her and taking her out for walks in the park.
As well as this, I also have other informal experiences with childminding young children from 5 years to 7 years as my mum used to be a childminder. From 3 pm to 6 pm every weekday, I’d help my mum mind the children we had in our home, playing board games and cooking up simple meals, even occasionally going with her to pick the children up from school. I helped my mum for a few months until she decided to become a nursery teacher.
More recently, I was registered with a nanny agency based in London (2021-2022), where I was hired by a family for 13 months, looking after an 11 year old girl. With the agency, I underwent a DBS check and basic first aid training. The reason for my departure was because of studies and my moving away to Basildon.
