About Me
Hello! I'm Melanie, a registered childminder based in Kenley, where I live with my husband and our two children, aged 4 and 7. We are a family who loves the outdoors and spends lots of time exploring nature and having fun together. We live in a spacious detached house with a large garden and a dedicated playroom filled with toys and activities for children to enjoy.
I offer gentle, child-centred care, focusing on each child's individual needs and interests. I believe that play is the best way to learn, and I strive to create a warm and nurturing environment where children feel safe, happy, and inspired to explore the world around them.
We enjoy a variety of activities including visits to local playgroups, forest walks, soft play, and trips to the library. Our garden is a special place where we love to see what we can grow in our vegetable patch, and I encourage the children to get involved in caring for our plants.

My Experience
I have over 20 years of experience working with children and families, which has given me a deep understanding of the diverse needs of children at different stages of development. I began my career as a nursery nurse, gaining valuable experience in early childhood care. Over the years, I've also worked as a nanny and babysitter, providing tailored care to children in their own homes.
I have worked at summer camps in the USA, where I gained invaluable skills in creating fun, engaging activities for children in an outdoor environment. I have also been a Brownie leader for over 10 years, where I've had the opportunity to lead and inspire young girls, encouraging them to grow in confidence and learn new skills.
In addition, I've spent many years working with Barnardo's and Women's Aid, supporting children affected by trauma. This experience has strengthened my ability to provide sensitive, compassionate care, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for children who may have experienced difficult circumstances.
My Qualifications
BTEC National Diploma Level 3 in Early Years
BA hons degree in Childhood Studies
MA Degree in social care.
Pediatric first aid trained
My Availability
Opening hours are 7:30am - 6:45pm. I have availability for all days & times.
Short term or ad hoc care also available.
I am open Saturdays until 2pm.
Currently providing early years care only - school collection/drop off may start from September 2025 for The Hayes Primary, please enquire.

- Childminding from £7.50 per hour
- Babysitting from £10.00 per hour
All funding & tax free childcare accepted.
There is a day rate or hourly rate available for those not using funded hours.
