My Summary
About Me
Hello :) I am a recent art school graduate with excellent care, support, and education experience.
I’m a bubbly and intelligent young woman with a calm presence and great attitude. I am fantastic with babies, children, teenagers, adults, elderly, and animals alike. I radiate kindness and care and I get an incredible amount of joy from helping people.
I have an array of talents that are perfect for child care - all the children I know absolutely love the following:
Music - I play a variety of instruments and sing. This is a great way for kids to learn music or simply interact with it.
Writing and story telling - I love to write and encourage children to do it in a way that is fun and engages them. I also love reading a story or telling a folk story I have memorised (the wee ones at the primary school loved their story time!)
Knowledge and intelligence - I am incredibly smart and knowledgable and have a great way of sharing my knowledge in a way that is interesting and fun.
Love for nature, imagination and play - I grew up in the Highlands in the countryside and now have a deep love for anything outdoors. I can make a little walk in the park into a fun educational experience about the echo system while also playing and engaging the imagination of children.
Art - Art and craft are my passion! I love engaging kids in art projects that fully immerse and nurture them.
The sort of work I am looking for is very broad and a nanny role would be ideal, however I'm also happy to help around the house with cleaning, laundry, ironing etc. I’m a confident cook and would also jump at the opportunity to help with any pets, house sit etc.
Side note - I’m also a professional artist and mural painter so if you would like to discuss any commissions such as a Child's bedroom please get in touch! :D
My Experience
I have been a carer for my Dad since I was little.
My Dad is disabled and I have juggled education and caring for him since I was young. This has given me maturity beyond my years and a deep routed caring nature. I am able to risk assess and anticipate needs before they are required and handle all kinds of situations sensitively and with patience. These skills are transferable and I have found that they benefit me in all aspects of my life. Although I have no formal qualifications in care or first aid, my knowledge is nonetheless extensive and learned first hand.
Painted murals in residential children’s home.
I was commissioned to paint murals (that had a focus on the children’s wellbeing and mental health) in a residential children’s home and in the process gained valuable experience working in this environment. The children in the home had additional needs and trauma and so I was able to see first hand how the carers managed the particular needs of each child, and how they managed and regulated the children to avoid incidences and what to do if they occurred.
Work experience in a primary school and high school.
Over the last several weeks I have been on work experience both in a primary school and a high school. I have absolutely adored this! Some of my roles included assisting with: art projects, lunchtime clubs, gardening, 1:1 learning and general classroom and teaching support.
Completed a participatory arts training course.
This was a brilliant course that gave me the tools to teach and share knowledge, prepare engaging activities, and safeguarding children’s wellbeing.
My Qualifications
Higher education (obtaining excellent grades in subjects such as art, English, religious moral and philosophical studies, history, biology, chemistry, photography)
University (recently graduated from the Glasgow School of Art with an Hons degree in textile design)
Completed a participatory arts training corse
PVG holder
